General Stanley McChrystal Tenders His Resignation (Cap. Hill source, Mattis replaces?)
UK Telegraph ^ | Tuesday, June 22, 2010 | Toby Harnden

Posted on 06/22/2010 2:51:23 PM PDT by kristinn

A senior Capitol Hill source tells me that General Stanley McChrystal had tendered his resignation to President Barack Obama and that the White House is actively discussing a replacement who could be quickly confirmed by the Senate.

The source said that among the names being touted as possible successors are General James Mattis, the outgoing head of the US Joint Forces Command and due to retire after being passed over as US Marine Corps commander, and Lieutenant General William Caldwell, commander of Nato’s Training Mission in Afghanistan.

Mattis is also the general who let the Hamdania trials go forth and also Haditha

Mattis heard from the families directly in the Hamdania case, heard how their sons were ordered to do what they did and ignored the family's pleas.

Mattis was a young Captain when I was a Cpl, I met him years ago. he has a great reputation from people who served directly under him, but since gettiing his star, he is much more political and offensive

Remember that Col relieved for “going too slow” in the invasion of 2003?

That Col was doing just fine, but the Col who replaced him had ZERO combat experience and needed it to get HIS first star. Know who replaced him??

That's right,. Mattis.

Did McChrystal really vote for Obama or is the Rolling Stone just saying so?

" I read a LOT of good things about McChrystal when he was appointed, but I think he started off mediocre and went downhill fast."

General McC was stabbed in the back at every turn.

The Obammunist always wanted troops out of Afghanistan. bin Laden was in Pakistan. Hussein wanted to hunt him down with drones, no U.S. casualties, like Klinton in Serbia.

He told McC to give him a war plan. McC wanted X troops. Hussein put him off for months then didn't give him enough and took too long for them to get there.

In the meantime, The Obammunist put unreasonable restrictions on Rules of Engagement.

McC was hampered at every step for political reasons.

The Obammunist told McC to go to Europe and get troops from NATO then took him to the woodshed when he didn't like McC's approach.

Barak Hussein bin Obama al-Kenyata does not like USA military, never has, he is a Marxist. He has his own Democrat/Communist agenda which is proceeding just fine.

He has said so himself that he voted for the dud. So as far as I’m concerned, Stanley can go pound sand. Anyone with any ounce of military experience should have been running away from this administration or anyone connected to it.

So maybe his yearn to advance in an environment that would be short on takers may have been his goal but he soon learned he just outsmarted himself. Just rewards from my view.

“General McC was stabbed in the back at every turn.”

Then he should have resigned in protest. Mouthing off does NOTHING good! It just gives Obama an excuse...

Gen. McChrystal to offer letter of resignation

If he accepts it, O will have to find a "political" general like Wesley Clarke. I'm sure there is no lack of suck ups.

If Obama accepts his resignation then it will be a shame. He told it like it is. What a shame! I don’t trust a piece from Rolling Stone or mostly any other mag. They tend to lean Left.

Career over.

It happen back in the Clinton administration.

His wiki bio is kind of bare for someone that has been around since 1976. Not alot of combat assignments other than the 82nd command. Maybe his PAO sucks, but not who I would pick to command Afghanistan, how about he takeover TRADOC.
