Don’t know if you like country music but Mark Collie had a song out on one if his albums

It was dedicated to his father who went in the army in 41 and came home with a silver star—he was also wounded in Korea at Inchon but went back in the field in 51

He was also sent home from Vietnam in 73 with 100% disability and in his later years dies in a VA hospital

Anyway he was IN Korea also seems he had a different opinion on the issue

Here is the lyric from that part of the song

“He took a bullet in the hip outside Inchon but was back in the field by 51—he said Douglas MacArthur was a man among men and Harry S Truman was a horses’ end”

Song also has a great tune .

“I was there you guys haven’t a clue.”

One thing that is perfectly clear is that MacArthur was a military genius.

There are several possible reasons that he went to the Yalu. One is that his intelligence officer, General Willoughby, filtered the information that M was getting.

Another is this:

“But MacArthur intelligence officer, General Willoughby, dismissed all those intelligence reports.

Then again, during the war, Army intelligence and the CIA, told Willoughby and MacArthur that the Chinese were sending soldiers into North Korea.

Chiina was actually purposely letting some of their intelligence officers be captured, trying to get the US to back away from the Chinese border.

But Willoughby had publicly said there were no Chinese in North Korea, so he ignored all reports saying there were, and MacArthur backed his staff officer.”

We do know that MacArthur was fiercely loyal to the “Bataan Gang,” including Willoughby. We also know that W resigned under somewhat mysterious circumstances. Scuttlebutt was that somebody finally busted W in a way that M could not explain away.

Another theory is that he was trying to force Truman to take on the Chinese and use nuclear weapons. Had Truman done so, we would be living in a much safer world today.
