More than 1,200 workers have been banned from flying England flags on their own cars by managers - over fears they could deemed as racist.
Employees at the housing association were sent a group e-mail warning that decking out their personal vehicles with the St George's flags could 'discriminate' against those who don't support England during the World Cup.
Managers at Bolton At Home in Greater Manchester, which manages 18,200 council houses in Bolton, insist cars owned by their workforce must remain 'neutral' in order to treat all its 'customers with respect and without discrimination'.
But today an employee at the organisation said: 'It's an absolute disgrace.
'All we want to do is show our support for the England football team in the World Cup but we are in effect being told it is racist to start waving the England flag.
'A ban would be bad enough on company cars but these are our own vehicles and we should be allowed to do what we like with them. This is Big Brother mentality gone bonkers.'
Another worker said: 'People are decking out the streets and houses in England flags yet the bosses here are being killjoys in the name of political correctness.

UK has lost its way, and will most likely never recover.
The UK will one day pray to it’s neighbor to the south 6x a day...lost in Liberalism, the Islamist will conquer the weak, PC Brit in 50 years.
Blame it on the Crusades and King Richard. You can bet the muslims are behind this.
“Council homes” are public housing I take it.
I understand they give these to illegals too. I just read an article about some Somali woman who was an illegal alien and managed to squirt out like 5 kids, demanded a council home even though she wasn’t even in the country lawfully, and won her petition and got it.
Britain has gone so far down the tubes I begin to think there is little hope for them. Now they are raising their VAT tax to 20% under a conservative government? Very sad.
My family left the U.K. (Doncaster) a scant century ago. None too soon, as I see it.
Listening to Peter Hitchens on Medved’s program right now and he is talking about how he is shunned in England for having religious views. England is pretty much toast. We are right behind.
Pretty sad to see what the once-great British empire has become....
Mrs. Prince of Space
I agree.
So, it is racist to support your country ???
Bloody Hell ...
Mine left or was tossed out 300-400 years ago.
It really cannot be over emphasized - England is one absolutely f*cked up country.
Just a case of a stupid councils taking offence on behalf of people they think will be offended and in fact aren't. Reminds me of the city council who removed a statue of a pig from a city park "in case it offended Muslims". When somebody bothered to go and ask some local Muslims about it, they said "Ermmm... what? Why should we be offended?"
Of course this is FR, so the usual suspects are all over this like a rash: "England going down the tubes, blah blah yakkety schmakkety"
Churchill would roll over in his grave if he saw the modern day United Kingdom. They have stood strong for almost a thousand years but I firmly believe that this is the century that the UK falls. It’ll become a sharia state and it’ll be their own fault for inviting and coddling these monsters.
Nope. As usual, it will be white PC liberals. IF the story is true.
The DM and other tabloids have run stories like this that havent been true.
They are raising it to try and compensate for the utter mess Labour 1997-2010 has left British finances in.
We have never been a nation that wears our patriotism on our sleeve. Our patriotism is understated.
Believe me, we may not fly flags outside a football match, but we are as patriotic as you.
Aye, people have been saying Britain is finished since the days of Ol’ Boney.
