Napolitano: State and local police may deploy to border
The Washington Times ^ | June 23, 2010 | Stephan Dinan

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday the federal government will move to let state and local police in non-border states rotate down to the border to help local authorities go after smugglers along the U.S.-Mexico line.

In a major policy speech in which she took aim at what she called "bumper sticker" slogans and said the Obama administration has made huge strides on security, Miss Napolitano said the border can be made still more secure and said administration officials are in the middle of "surging" more boots on the ground.

"We are not satisfied. There is more work to do," said Miss Napolitano, a former Arizona governor.

The remarks signal a change in tone for the secretary, who late last year said she believed enough had been done on the border that Congress could turn its attention to legalizing illegal immigrants already in the U.S. The remarks come as President Obama is trying to apply moderate pressure to Congress to pass such an immigration bill this year.

Think of this, as if it is "The Enemies Strategy," no better way to empty a nation of soldiers than sending them to a foreign war that does not exist. The political class needs bodies to replace the Aborted; where else are they going to get them, citizenry not producing for tribute. The Nation is burning, while they tell you its just a Barbeque with Tacos and Kebabs!

Now why would they do that, it would work, such is not the goal. This is about getting two things, first assisting Mexico to maintain an Oligarchy while reducing the pressure of Mexican problems, second managing a desired, pliable and controllable national population see post #22.

Exactly. I think she’s just tossing out a bone so that people have some (incorrect) idea that they are actually seeking solutions.

National Guard always belonged to the State Governors until a national need (i.e., war).

With this Administration they belong to the Federal Government and the Governors must ask permission to use them. I wonder why the NG are paid with checks from the State Treasury, when not mobilized by the federal government?

Maybe we need to send some returning combat troops from Iraq and Afghanistan directly to the border. Let them shoot it out with the banditos, etc and see if their ‘war training’ equips them to beat the drug lords.

I am sick of hearing about the banditos or whom ever shooting across the border into Texas homes.

Thoroughly pointless and utterly dishonest demagoguery. Hussein & CO know full well no "non-border" state will have it's cops go to Arizona, etc to work as border patrol agents! It's ridiculous on its face. But it SOUNDS as though they're actually DOING something. All those years at the Richard Daley School for Misleading and Incoherent Statements are really paying off.

This is a very very bad idea. It “federalizes” police. Police is a community and state function. Moving police power to the federal zone is a direct attack on freedom. Send the troops as promised.

No DAMNED shortcuts.

Sending officers from other states to see to it that the immigrants can cross unmolested?

I have an idea. Round up all the swat teams with all their paramilitary goodies and send them to the border to play with their toys. No more dogs shot in no knock raids and they can see what it is like to be shot at.

until the national guard is called up for federal service, their commander is the governor. so brewer could deploy arizona national guard troops on the border. they could hold signs saying CALIFORNIA CROSSING THIS WAY

How nice of her. That's up to the bordering States. I'll bet if Arizona issued a "call up the militia" they'd get enough volunteers that they wouldn't need help from other states. It would also be a nice reminder to Washington that the States call the shots - not them.

Good question, earlier.
Where are those NG troops?

The blind leading the blind and the border isn’t getting sealed”

BS about the blind leading the blind.

They know what they’re doing and they don’t want the border closed.

“SINGLE ACTS OF TYRANNY MAY BE ASCRIBED TO THE ACCIDENTAL OPINION OF A DAY; BUT A SERIES OF OPPRESSIONS, BEGUN AT A DISTINGUISHED PERIOD, AND PURSUED UNALTERABLY THROUGH EVERY CHANGE OF MINISTERS (ADMINISTRATIONS) TOO PLAINLY PROVES A DELIBERATE, SYSTEMATIC PLAN OF REDUCING US TO SLAVERY.” - Thomas Jefferson. ZBIGNIEW BREZHINSKY, National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter and advisor to 4 other presidents, Executive Director of Trilateral Commission, Marxist and proud of it! Here he speaks about what a New World Order will be like: “The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values.”

COMMUNIST RULES FOR REVOLUTION (Captured at Dusseldorf in May 1919 by Allied Forces)

1. Corrupt the young; get them away from religion. Get them interested in sex. Make them superficial; destroy their ruggedness.
2. By specious argument cause the breakdown of old moral virtues; honesty, sobriety, continence, faith in the pledged word, ruggedness.
3. Encourage civil disorders and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of government toward such disorders. (L.A. riots were just a coincidence? ... Of course!)
4. Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance. (Racial differences?)
5. Get people’s minds off their government by focusing their attention on athletics, sexy books, plays, and other trivialities.
6. Get control of all means of publicity. (Media)
7. Destroy the people’s faith in their natural leaders by holding the latter up to contempt, ridicule and obloquy (disgrace).
8. Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext, with a view to confiscation and leaving the population helpless.

Thomas Jefferson says, “To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”
