Police shoot, kill grandmother's dog after raiding wrong house (13 year-old pug named "Wrinkles")

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are investigating after an officer shot and killed a dog that allegedly attacked him while serving a search warrant at a Northwest Washington home Tuesday night.

Marietta Robinson, who lives at the address, said police were unjustified in killing the dog, which she put in the bathroom before police entered the home. Police were searching for her grandson, who the woman said hasn’t lived there in so long, not even her 13-year-old dog knew what her grandson looked like.

An officer entered the bathroom over the 62-year-old woman’s protests and shot the dog, named Wrinkles. As many as eight shots may have been fired, Robinson said.

It’s OK guys the shooting was justified. They found drug paraphenalia. We are now closer to winning the war on civil liberties! Um, I mean drugs......

At 13, the poor thing is probably blind and not moving quickly. They certainly can’t really be a threat to anyone!
They are great “alarm” dogs. I just can’t imagine why they had to shoot it.

The worst part is right in the headline. I could understand shooting the dog during, or even before raiding the wrong house. Afterwards they should be more interested in fixing the doors they kicked in. Cops 1, Innocent Pet Owner 0.

They shot and killed a PUG?!

A 13 year old PUG?!

They shot it EIGHT times?!

Abso-freakin-lutely NO excuse for that. None. Strong arm tactics like that, and boneheaded things like RAIDING THE WRONG HOUSE are what justifiably cause people to have real trust issues with “law enforcement.”

Hey, you wanna search my house? Knock on my door, in broad daylight, with a couple of uniforms and and if necessary a detective or two. FIRST THING, present me with the WARRANT. I’ll shut up my little dogs — who wouldn’t harm you ANYWAY. I’ll call my lawyer, and you can search my house. That’s Constitutional.

YOu bust down my door in the dead of night with weapons screaming and wake me from a sound sleep, ALL I know is some fools with guns are invading my home. And I start shooting the invaders — because THAT is what they INVITE by their tactics. Home invasions by criminals happen too often nowadays. When you can’t tell the difference between cops and criminals tactics — where does that leave the citizen at 3am as his door is kicked down by armed men in the dark shooting his dog...?

You’re right. Shooting the dog appears to be a SOP for police officers. I’m sure someone can explain the rationale for this.

We better put out an emergency warning to all gramps on free republic...but I think there are more granny's posting than gramps...:O)

But if any policeman shot my dog in my house, I'd track him down....at my age a little prison time would mean nothing...

In the LEO’s operations manual the first thing to do when invading the wrong house is to shoot the family dog ....

There are too many things I could say in reply to that statement - all or most would get me in trouble with whatever federal trolls monitor the internet.

So, I'll comment on another part of the report:
Eight shots were heard - and from what I've seen reported involving police shootings, the poor little guy probably had a heart attack from the noise and any actual wounds would have come from tile fragments.

they SAW her put the dog in the bathroom = and they went after it. the dog ‘attacked” them - How much does a little pug weigh

How did they get so much blood on their hands that that had to wash them - and to wash them in her water cooler!

What kind of cretins are these?
