Anybody know the difference between Islam and Muslim? If they’re the same, why the different names?

Islam is the religion. Muslim is the person.

Islam means "submission"[to the will of Allah], and is the name of the religion.

Muslim translates as "Slave of Allah", and denotes a member of Islam.

Quran 9.111:

Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.

The binding covenant of Islam, which is central to Islam, is that the lives and property of Muslims are the property of Allah, and are to be used to subjugate the rest of the world under Islam. In exchange for this, Allah promises them eternal physical bliss, and the services of 72 sex slaves.
