Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh famously said he hoped President Obama would fail in January, 2009. Almost a year later, when Limbaugh was rushed to the hospital with chest pains, Washington Post reporter David Weigel had a wish of his own. I hope he fails, Weigel cracked to fellow liberal reporters on the Journolist email list-serv.
Too soon? he wondered.
Weigel was hired this spring by the Post to cover the conservative movement. Almost from the beginning there have been complaints that his coverage betrays a personal animus toward conservatives. E-mails obtained by the Daily Caller suggest those complaints have merit.
Honestly, its been tough to find fresh angles sometimeshow many times can I report that these [tea party] activists are joyfully signing up with the agenda of discredited right-winger X and discredited right-wing group Y? Weigel lamented in one February email.
In other posts, Weigel describes conservatives as using the media to violently, angrily divide America. According to Weigel, their motives include racism and protecting white privilege, and for some of the top conservatives in D.C., a nihilistic thirst for power.

Something like 90 percent of working reporters (at the time) voted for Clinton. That’s all you need to know.
Oh, Dear: Ezra Klein Now Shutting Down JournoList (liar Weigel causes shut-down of liberal reporters secret war room)
” his coverage betrays a personal animus toward conservatives “
I’ve read a half-dozen reports on Weigel’s behavior, and I still don’t see the problem — wasn’t he just following standard procedure within the job description for WaPo reporters and staffers??
Am I the only one to see a photo of this guy and have it occur to me that he, well, might play for the other team?
To liberal for the WaPo? LOL.
I saw him on a panel (of supposed conservatives, what a liar!), and I remember him saying he had a girlfriend.
But who knows?
Why is this a surprise to some? It is the Washington Post for Pete’s sake...a democrat party organization. They lie, cheat, and distort for a living...propaganda is their game folks. Accept that, they hate Americans and will do anything to destroy us.
or cares?
I know, but I am soooooo happy he is busted.
He has been posting on the “Journolist” (a secret war room for reporters...liberals who give up the pretense when they talk to each other).
This is so sweet...he often wrote for NR, and was a guest on programs supposedly talking for the conservative side.
And he is really ticked off that the Daily Caller (Tucker Carlson) and Drudge are publishing is private posts and emails to his liberal friends.
Weigel is a tool.

WaPo: Who TMZ’d Rep. Bob Etheridge? (Rep. “acting strangely”)
Washington Post ^ | June 14, 2010 | David Weigel
Right wing memes begin in WND/FreeRepublic/talk radio swamps, Weigel wrote, referring to conservative websites World Net Daily and Free Republic. Sometimes, they spread like a virus into liberal sites, a fact that clearly upsets Weigel.
“wasnt he just following standard procedure within the job description for WaPo reporters and staffers??”
No. They’re not supposed to get caught.
It was more like a way to practice their habitual anti-Conservative, anti-Christian insults.
Darned shame the owner is shutting it down before intelligence analysts can check it for hacking by AlQaida.
No surprises...just a happy dance that he resigned and went to HuffPo where he belongs.
No more infiltration into rightwing media.
Toe tapper with a wide stance.
It's a sure bet that this serial bed-wetter gets his poor complexion from too much time masturbating to gay internet porn in his mother's basement, and consuming whatever nostril fruit he manages to harvest with his right index finger. You'll be glad to know that Barney Frank loves your work Weigel.
When does Klein resign for his disgusting unprintable attack on Tim Russert ???
