NASHVILLE SKYLINE: Gulf Coast Disaster Hits Music, Too Jimmy Buffett Concert to Boost Area Morale June 24, 2010; Written by Chet Flippo

I'll tell you what. I'm glad that Jimmy Buffett and his friends are doing this free concert in Gulf Shores, Ala., on July 1, if for no other reason than to raise people's spirits and to remind us all there are common causes we can all rally around together and unite on.

The longer this Gulf Coast oil spill crisis continues, the more concerned I become about the very well-being and the future and the very survival of the region. The Gulf Coast states immediately affected by this oil industry catastrophe -- Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida -- encompass so many of the things I care deeply about in life that I gravely fear for the outcome. I can't even begin to speculate about the enormous hit to the area's businesses and its tourism and ecological destruction and the damage to sea life and birds and animals.

He of course forgot to mention that scalpers snapped up the damned tickets in the first 5 minutes and are now ripping people off.

Thanks for posting this.

My sweetie went to his concert Saturday night at Alpine Valley in Troy, WI.

This article will really tickle him. Thanks again! :)

Wasting away again in Obamaland. Seaching for for the lost layer of tourists. Some people claim that BP is all to blame.

Tell me about it. I had 17 people lined up to try and get tickets, all of us logged in to ticketmaster right at 10AM -- Me on three computers alone. NOT ONE SINGLE TICKET. Scalpers already had them all.

Took less than 30 minutes before the FREE tickets started showing up on E-Bay at $600-$750 EACH.

When he was at the mohegan sun arena, the tickets went for well over a hundred dollars each. How much where they now?

Keep going, you're on a roll! Just what we need, another "concert." Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland over and over -- I've got an idea, let's put on a SHOW!

I love that old leftie Jimmy - I've seen him in concert over 20 times since about 1982, though not in the last dozen years.

What this article doesn't tell you is that this "benefit" also coincides with the grand opening of his hotel down there.

And, though the concert is free, that doesn't necessarily mean Jimmy's not getting paid. BP is picking up the tab, apparently, including Jimmy's undisclosed fee.

Jimmy's about making bucks - tens of millions of bucks. I've got no problem with that, I just wish he'd drop the lefty schtick. I guess it sells tickets.

Yeah, It also doesn’t tell you that his sister Lulu is a business owner and resident of Gulf Shores and is “Queen Bee” down there.

Nibblin on great steaks
Cancellin’ those tax breaks
The whole damn Gulf, it’s covered in oil
Playing my violin
Folks barely existin’
Countin’ my tax money from little folks that toil

Wastin away again in the West Wing
Searching for my lost copy of “Rules….”
I’m gonna claim that the right wing’s to blame
Then they’ll think….that it isn’t my fault

I don’t have any clues
To fix these folks blues
Nothin to show but this new golfer’s tan
But it’s a real beauty
Got it shirking my duty
How I got elected, I haven’t a clue

Wastin away again in the West Wing
Searching for my lost copy of “Rules….”
I’m gonna claim that the right wing’s to blame
Then they’ll think….that it isn’t my fault

I bogied the last hole
Won’t let ‘em burn coal
Blamed George Bush for the problems at home
Considering surrender
Changin’ what’s legal tender
A new world order is what turns me on

Wastin away again in the West Wing
Searching for my lost copy of “Rules….”
I’m gonna claim that the right wing’s to blame
Then they’ll think….that it isn’t my fault

Excellent song!

I stopped listening to JB once I heard about his leftist, Clintonista leanings. Particularly when someone stole his cellphone and it had Clinton’s private number of it.

Sorry, this uber-rich, Communist is no different that the other Hollywood types who will gladly welcome Communism (or Stalinism, Maoism, Nazi-ism, Chavezism — Totalitarianism) as long as they are protected.

F*** JB.

Besides, he hasn’t made a good album since “Son of a Son ...” IMHO. Just Jimmy Buffoon making millions and loving the masses buying his products while going along with the stripping of their personal liberties and wealth.
