It was a beatiful game and I think Germany scored a deserved win.
That said, it’s a mystery why FIFA is so entrenched in their “3 ref” system. UEFA’s already put in dedicated goal-area refs on European cup matches for this very reason. It hasen’t (usually) got anything to do with bad refereeing, it’s just that 2 refs can’t be everywhere and see everything at once. In this case, the shot was from a distance, the head ref is busy controlling the outfield and the assisting is following the offside-line. With the speed and power of that shot, I’m more surprised this kind of stuff doesn’t happen more often.
Get off your asses, FIFA, and add those damn goal-referees.
AGREE we have a 4th official on the side which can have a monitor.
it would only take secs to give a decision and right now decisions are costing clubs in Europe millions, promotions etc .
There’s too much money to lose or gain right now and we need to use vid tech/
The game and tech has moved forward and it is high time for FIFA to do so too.
Not saying for every tackle etc but for situations like today or pens..
FIFA has been corrupt with Blatter for years and he needs to go too
