I don’t fault the players, I doubt if they could really see what happened. Maybe in hindsight they might have considered it. I would imagine they would have preferred the call was gotten right as well, because it does tarnish the win a bit.

The German goalie knew the ball went in but pretended to play it as if it didn't go in to fool the refs. He talked about it in an interview after the game.
It worked.
