Invasion! U.S. 'sanctuary city' succumbs to illegals

A California "sanctuary city" has fallen victim to illegal immigration – going bankrupt and firing all of its public employees, Jerome Corsi's Red Alert reports.

The city of Maywood, Calif., hit the budget wall after it decided not only to be a sanctuary city, but to be a completely "safe haven" for illegal aliens seeking protection from deportation.

"Predictably, mainstream media newspapers, including the Financial Times in London, chose to present Maywood as a victim to the recession, rather than to tell the whole story – that Maywood fell victim to illegal immigration," Corsi wrote.

"Crushed by the recession and falling tax revenues, the city is disbanding the police force and firing all public sector employees," Matthew Garrahan wrote in the Financial Times, never mentioning that illegal immigration was the problem.

Maywood is a small town comprising only about 1.2 square miles on the southern border of Los Angeles. More than 96 percent of its residents are Hispanic. The town's official population is listed at 29,000 but may be nearly 45,000 when illegal aliens living in Maywood are counted.

There are some good things about being retired—LOL! Not having to get in rush hour traffic is one of them!

The way it is going here, I may be retiring sooner than later. The politics in the military are sickening.

Hispanics are of Europeon heritage....what, they all want to go back to Spain?

Spaniards are of European heritage. The mestizo's from mexico are mostly indian with a little spanish thrown in, so they're not european descent. In any case they never owned most of the southwest because they couldn't defeat the Apache tribes that actually did own most of eastern Arizona, western New Mexico, and northwestern Texas. They may have owned california for a while before we took it away from them in 1848.

I think it’s funny that thru the years they keep changing what they are called. When I was a kid they were called Mexicans. Later it was Chicanos, Latinos, now Hispanics (may have been something else in between, who can keep up). The problem is, this is a people who are not really a people. Just folks who come from some country that speaks Spanish, that is it. They are not all the same *race*. But, politicians want to lump them together because they have figured out that people are stupid, and if you can divide them into a voting block you can lead them around by the nose.

San Carlos used to be a really nice city. Very sad.

There is a lot of racism south of the border. Americans have done a tremendous job of melding into a people. Most other countries have not. That is why it always puzzles me that we allow race pimps to agitate and make a living here on the backs of minorities by convincing them how bad off they are here. They should go live elsewhere and see what the rest of the world is like in that regard.

The Mexican (American) kids I grew up with were not the same kids I taught several years ago in TX schools tho. They were not much different than I was. The news kids coming in come from less educated families, with a totally different attitude. Lots of my friends from back then had Dads who owned businesses. They would have slapped their kids silly if they even thought of being gang bangers.

What are they griping about? Do they want to have to walk even farther north to invade the USofA and go on welfare?

We have a lady friend here who owns a small Mexican food restaurant. Back when all the May day protests were going on, some of her LEGAL Hispanic workers wanted to go. She told them, "If you go, come get your LAST paycheck tomorrow". None of them attended.

Well, I don’t think any of the illegals want to speak to my 5th or 6th generation LEGAL Hispanic neighbor Sandra. I learned some new four letter words when she talked to some illegal workers.

LOL
Back when I was a kid most of the *Mexicans* I knew didn’t have accents, and I don’t think most of them spoke Spanish. I didn’t think of them as a different race than me. I guess I vaguely knew their families, at some time, had come from Mexico or somewhere further south. Their last names were mostly Spanish, but not all of them. It wasn’t really much of an issue. I know there was some name calling between kids (as there always is), but I don’t think there was the level of animosity there is today. There seemed to be a lot of dating back and forth and lots of my friends married Mexican guys/girls. I just don’t recall it being a thing people thought that much about if you were in the same economic strata. I think this is a created issue.

Well, Sandra and her husband moved here from Ca about five years ago. They had a small just over 1000 ft home there, and sold it for over $200K. They came here and bought a house over 2000 ft, a new SUV, built a pool in their yard and had money left to pay for their grandkids’ college.

They despise the illegal immigtants, because their families went through the trouble of doing it legally generations ago. Like I said earlier, she nor her husband speak much Spanish. Mostly stuff like “No comprende” or “pendeho”.

LOL, growing up in and around NM (even when we didn’t live there my Mom’s family did so we visited often) I know most of the bad words! That was a big help to me when I taught HS in East TX which was having an influx of illegals. The native East TX folk had no clue about the culture etc, but I knew exactly what the kids were about. I got along fine with them, and the first time I knew exactly what they were saying when they were using that language in my class, I got a level of respect. It was funny to me, because it wasn’t my intent at all, but heck, it worked because it made them settle down and they didn’t give me much trouble after that.
