Following the death of Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.), Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), the most senior member of the Senate, will be sworn in as president pro-tempore of the Senate, placing him third in the line of succession to become president.
Inouye will be formally sworn in once the chamber opens for business Monday, at 2 p.m. EDT, in a service just steps away from the long-time desk of Inouye's close friend, Byrd, who died at 3 a.m. Monday. Staff have already draped a black mohair cloth over Byrd's desk, placing white roses atop it, a standard symbol of mourning when a senator dies while in office.

Sheets/KKK Byrd deserves allof your rather tasteless thoughts. He was ‘bad form’ in the Senate.
Can Inouye play the fiddle?
Unlikely. He is missing an arm..
Will he make a public comment on the issue that Barack Hussein Obama has no Hawaii issued birth certificate?
If either senator showed this much solemnity and seriousness about the rights of the citiznes of the nation they supposedly represent when it comes to so many issues over the years, I might be able to show some class at this moment. But seeing all this public drama after years of taxes going to Byrd`s self-mythologizing projects, I can find nothing in his record that marks him as anything but another Kennedy_like hack who used the people`s wealth to promote his ego. I`m sure his successor will rush to spend more millions to memorialize this dead bigot who did the one thing libs and the MSM see as absolution for otherwise unforgivable sins—spend our money. Byrd`s career is one long, sick, racist joke at our expen$e.
I admire him for his service during World War II in such a distinguished unit. Thats the only nice thing I have to say about him.
