Gov. Chris Christie talks about changing from an entitlement society to a resourceful society. He also discusses how difficult it was to pass almost his complete budget in the New Jersey Legislature. Co-host Mika tried to play devils advocate by complaining about raising taxes on public employees by a maximum of 1.5%. Money quotes:
There is no more money to print
On taxing junk food: We already tax cigarettes.
Joe Scarborough to Gov. Christie passing a constitutional 2.5% cap on taxes: You rock!

I watched it and Christie was right on the money in all his answers. Unlike all too many politicians from both parties, Christie is no empty suit. He was elected on a platform of change and he’s enacting that change with the votes of some of the Democrats in the legislature. He’s definitely someone we should be keeping our eyes on.

Christie does not need the distractionn of being adulated into a presidential candidate- he needs to stay in NJ and see if he can make it a social model for other states

Unlike a lot of people around here I don't believe in annointing the lastest media hero to the next national ticket. And I'm not suggesting Christie should be the next president. I'm just saying that he's doing a hell of a job so far, and if he keeps it up then when he feels he's accomplished what he needed to with New Jersey I think he'd make a fine candidate for whatever higher office he sets his sights on. No more and no less.

I like this guy. I only know what I see and hear about him.
He has courage, and is proving it with his actions.

If he can successfully neuter the NJ teacher unions over the next 2 years- then maybe, just maybe, I trust him to deal with Iran and North Korea!

I watched her face n much of this - she was ‘looking’ like she could not believe what he was daring to say. She showed her lib roots by wanting to tax sodas to make people ‘healthier’ - true nanny gov.

He’s a badass. We need him on the national stage at some point. Finish the job in New Jersey first though.

It is MSNBC after all. Scarborough is about as conservative as they get on that network. Mika is a stone liberal.
To: i88schwartz
He needs to give lessons to other Republican governors about making the hard choices. Straighten out the states and tell Fedzilla to butt out.
Mika really is a *****, isn't she?
Since when did Joe become a conservative again?

Christie says what he thinks, and doesn't back down to anyone. He is always current on the facts, and corrects the MSM's attempted doublespeak at him.
He is living proof that when those on the other side in "in yo face", you just get right back in theirs.
Christie has the courage of the founders, and we need more leaders like him all across America.
When obama says "NO"...do it anyway.

Was glad to hear him say that he has lost weight since December and has a trainer-—he needs to take care of himself-—we need him.

He’s on the national stage. He’s being talked about and watched constantly. He can set an example from right here in NJ. I assume he’ll serve his full term.
