Somewhere at Treasury, someone is working up a proposal that if we bring all the boys home for liberty, we’ll boost the economy big time. Talk about a stimulus!

Since the first army and navy was formed, this has been going on. Or so I ‘ve heard, never having been myself. [snicker]

Someone should explain to the author that Navy officers and sailors aren’t the same thing.

With the typical journalists level of knowledge of the military, they’re lucky she’s not talking about soldiers in boats.

I wonder how the story will read after repeal of DADT?

“Every horny woman comes out of the woodwork,” she said.
Hmmmmmm, I don’t quite know what to make of that. Hahahaha. Maybe if you are at sea long enough they all look good. Chuckle, chuckle, snort, snort.

“Ms Love said the US boys were never any problems - “they treat the girls like gold”.”
It’s not that the Yanks treat the Aussie hookers so well. It’s that they treat them so much better than the Aussie men do.
In Australia, women have their uses, but an Aussie male would much rather head down to the pub for a pint a “punchup” with his mates, than hang around women.
American men are the only water in that emotional desert.

Charming.
At 1st I thought this was a story on how US “seamen” (no pun?) are dying in droves because of STDs.
“Darwin’s prostitutes...”
Hence, the Darwin Awards?
Guess I was wrong.

Navy blokes asking about Viagra Slander and calumny against the sailors of the United States Navy . Probably originated and disseminated to deceive our Australian cousins by some POMy Poofter boss-tawd.

I agree. Why would anyone buy it?!?! Obviously, many do, but the logic escapes me. One of those great unanswered mysteries of life (for me at least).

I am sure glad Seamen was spelled correctly for this article.

Just to let you know I appreciate a well turned phrase.

Well, I for one am shocked. As a former Naval enlisted and officer I can state firmly that sex was
never the first thing on my mind when I pulled into port after a couple of months at sea and saw those tall, lanky, tanned beauties in bikinis with the soft hair blowing in the summer breeze laying out a towel on the beach and breaking out the suntan lotion and rubbing it into one another's...[sound of BtD taking a cold shower]...where was I? Oh, yeah. "Excuse me, Miss, could you tell me where the nearest Christian Science Reading Room is?"
Port call in Oz. Oh, hell...

When I was in Australia in ‘93, I observed the exact same thing. We sailors would walk into a pub and ask for a Budweiser and every girls head would turn, order us a Victoria Bitter instead, and ignore the Aussie dudes.

Green: Prostitution legal and regulated
Blue: Prostitution legal, but organised activities such as brothels and pimping are illegal, prostitution is not regulated.
Darwin is in the blue portion, close to the center-top of the map.

Do they give out Darwin awards?

“....ignore the Aussie dudes.”
Indeed, if you have an appetite for “fishing”, Australia is like have your own barrel to yourself. It’s hardly challenging, when the competition doesn’t even know how to bait a hook properly.
