Looks like a small remnant of Alex, left after that mass broke away and headed northeast toward Louisiana, still remains and could reform as a hurricane again - but with half the mass and greatly reduced wind velocity. Just guessing - from views seen at this link. Maybe this is God's oil-spill cleanup campaign... who knows.
Been hurricane watching for a while and have never seen this type of pattern, at least I don't remember one. Maybe the Lord is getting ready to show He is the boss of the Gulf Coast, and will clean up His own waters.

Hard to call it a cleanup operation since there’s no sign of that gusher stopping in the foreseeable future. But we’ll take whatever we can get, certainly.
