Largest skimmer in the world must be deemed ‘effective’ by the federal government ..

The largest skimming ship in the world — known as an “A Whale” — is expected to arrive in the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, but will be prevented from contracting with BP to help clean up the oil spill until the federal government decides that the vessel is “effective.”

The Coast Guard will not clear the Taiwan-owned ship – which is reportedly the length of 3 football fields and 10 stories high – to join the clean-up until it undergoes a test.

“The Coast Guard research and development center has a team of personnel that are ready to observe the tests to test the efficacy of the vessels systems, as well as its ability to safely operate in that area down there,” Coast Guard spokesman Ron LaBrec told The Daily Caller.

LaBrec said that the Coast Guard does not have concerns about the environmental impact of the ship’s operations. Some reports have said that the Environmental Protection Agency is worried that some of the 500,000 barrels of oily water sucked up each day by the vessel may contain some traces of oil when placed back in the Gulf.

I’ll take “traces” of oil when the water goes back into gulf if it means that MOST of the oil is removed. They’re letting the perfect be the enemy of the good here.

Let's see, now...... our government believes that a commercial company would be willing to spend boat loads of money (literally) to build a huge ship that would not do the job it was designed to do. Rule #1: Commercial companies HAVE to make money - they can't simply levy taxes.

If anyone doubted that this environmental disaster was not being manipulated by Obama’s team for maximum impact on the American people, this should set all of those doubts aside.

This is just like the illogical thinking on the Sw border... we can’t stop 100.00% of illegal aliens, so we must stop .00%.

The real tragedy here is that the dispersants, that never should have been injected in the first place, make this job more difficult, and cannot be removed by this process.

” Obama’s EPA dithers. “

No, this is INTENTIONAL. ALL of it is!

This is one of the most EVIL things ever perpetrated against the United States, and it is all deliberate by Obama and his leftist thugs. We were offered the best clean up teams the world had to offer within 48 hours of this spill, and all were turned down.

Within ONE WEEK of the spill, every member of the United Arab Emirates offered all of their experts & equipment to us. ALL were jerked off, and delayed!!

I have a friend who is an executive with Exxon/Mobil and he told me Obama wants to wreck the environment for political gain, to stop all drilling, and pass cap N trade.

If Obama loves a one world government so much, let’s try him in The Hague for “Crimes Against Humanity” !!

The trouble is that Congress, in its infinite wisdom, passed a law prohibiting discharge of oily water into the ocean, and the EPA was allowed to set standards on what counts as "oily" while enforcing the law.

If Obama announced that he'd suspended enforcement of these laws and promised to immediately sack any prosecutor or EPA bureaucrat who levelled charges of violation of environmental laws during a successful cleanup and mitigation operation, then we wouldn't have this problem. But then, that would require leadership, not golf clubs.

Great analogy, border leak::oil blowout. Should be added to the general conservative lexicon, IMO.
