While the Pubbies had control of Congress they did not have a filibuster proof Senate.
The Dems refused to allow the tax cuts to go through without the expiration date. That way they could use it for their political advantage when the expiration date came up. The Dems are very cunning political animals but they are terribly un-American.

Economic growth-stimulating tax cuts are to Republicans what socialized medicine is to Democrats. The Holy Grail.

Reagan didn't either. In fact, he didn't even have control of the House. But he got his tax cuts through without any sunset provisions, as far as I recall.

My question is why would they extend the evil Bush tax cuts. For eight years all we heard was these were for the “rich” and didn’t benefit the middle class or poor and only hurt them.

From what I/we saw he basically rolled on almost every contentious item the Dems mouthed off about.
