Republican Rep. Steve King’s discharge petition aimed at repealing Obamacare gains 80 signatories

Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King’s discharge petition, aimed at repealing Obamacare, is gaining momentum in the House as more representatives sign on.

Today Rep. Tom Price, Georgia Republican and chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC) is circulating a request that members support the petition. To date 80 representatives — all Republicans — have affixed their names to the document which, if a majority sign, would force House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to bring King’s bill, H.R. 4972 “To repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” to the floor for an up-or-down vote. If a majority sign the petition it is likely that King’s bill will pass, as those who sign will vote for his repeal.

King is urging the 34 Democrats who voted against the health-care legislation to sign onto the petition. He was enthusiastic about the support his motion has received.

I met him March 20, the day before they passed the bill. Nice enough guy, he and Michelle Bachman were the two that asked for folks to go to DC that day to try to stop passage of the bill.

The Des Moines Register has tirelessly campaigned against King, saying the Iowa 5th District “can do better.
The Register's Envy Fairy columnist, Rekha Basu is leading a libelous whispering campaign nearly every week against the congressman.
This just about insures King reelection.

We need more “folks” like him, Rep. Bachman, Rep. Paul and the very few others that actually believe the Constitution, as written, should be our mandate. I only hope they can enlist the rinos to hold the wolves at bay until we can get re enforcements to them.

The effort is trivial. He has no Democrat signatures. Until there are many, it is of no consequence.

He was greeted like a rock star at the Iowa Republican convention Sat. BTW, even though Steve is extremely conservative and believes in the constitution, he is still very much a believer in party unity after primaries are over.

He wisely stayed out of the contentious Iowa Republican primary BUT Sat. at the convention he made it known where he stands now and that is he is behind the Republican ticket.

For those who believe it is wise to send Republicans a message by not voting straight Republican, one has to look no farther than Congressman King himself. If you like Congressman King, and those like him, you MUST send reinforcements. Congressman King is great but it will be so much better if he can be in the majority. There is only one way--VOTE STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN AFTER A PRIMARY!!!!

“The Register’s Envy Fairy columnist, Rekha Basu is leading a libelous whispering campaign nearly every week against the congressman.”

This is where you attack. Publish her name, phone number and address and start a letter writing campaign against her. Call her a Marxist and a Obama supporter who uses the 4th estate to offer opinion instead of news. Hound her mercilessly.

That’s how you beat the left.

Thats how they all start tho. Lets see where it goes. I salute the guy, I also strongly disagree this is show only. I know those running for the seat in my district are mostly talking repeal and thats a good thing. He’ll have some good company after the elections to bolster his position. Hopefully the event will leave dems in a more receptive mood.
