One last comment to your differentiation of Noonan's influence to that of some of the named politicians - in fact I believe that Peggy Noonan has much greater influence than most of these names (not SDO), because her writings (presumed to have conservative weight) influence both voters and the politicians whom they elect. Peggy Noonan, giving 0bama a pass (if not an indirect endorsement), was a huge reason why so many "Catholic" voters felt comfortable electing a marxist amateur to the POTUS.
