Re: Steele and the RNC: Allow me to chime in with my usual observation on this subject: This is a job for Sarah Palin. Palin would be a much better RNC chairman than presidential candidate or freelance kingmaker. She'd raise tons of money and help recruit good candidates, i.e., she'd excel at doing the things Steele should have been doing instead of appointing himself Republican pundit-at-large.
A Chairman Palin would help set the right tone for the Republican party without having to get herself entangled in the minutiae of policy-development, which has not been her forte. Sure, she'd be polarizing, but so is Barack Obama, and these are polarized times. And it's one thing to have a polarizing party chairman, another to have a polarizing candidate.
Anybody disagree?
That would be SO COOL! Maybe not the best idea before November? But would I ever love to see Sarah as head!
I think thats a pretty clever idea.
Works for me.
Sarah has more important things to do - now and, hopefully in 2012.
There are plenty of other candidates for the RNC chair who aren’t idiots like Steele.
I just remembered Sarah has absolutely no use for the RNC. She has told them repeatedly to remove her name from fundraisers and such. The lasted being at the SRLC this year. She ask privately no dice then it went public and ended up in Politico as news.
If Sarah is going to work with the RNC its going to be strictly on the state and local level. The only national republican organization Sarah works with is the RGA
Not a bad idea. Might motivate some rinos to move on to greener pastures.
Steele may be the worst of the worst, though. Dumping him would be a good start.
This should of been done already! All of the RINOS continue to profoundly damage the entire GOP!
Newt.
I see the writers comments as more insults against Palin, dealt from the bottom of the deck.
So no, I don’t agree.
If Palin runs, I think she already is, she will win and become the next REAL President of the United States.
National Review has turned RINO on us. I think this is just their way of trying to remove her from other possibilities.
Remember that almost all of them lined up early behind Mitt Romney last time around.
Swing and a miss, Mittbots. ;)
Steele absolutely, positively MUST GO. Period.
Sarah would be great, but I don’t see her getting (or even wanting) the job.
No thanks, Mitt. Nice try, though, to get her out of the picture for 2012. Why don't you take the job, Mitt? It's perfect for you.
Perfectly great idea!
::::sigh::::
What’s new—the National Review being patronizing to Gov. Palin again? “Policy is hard”—so I suppose that and running for president should be left to the big boys, like Mitt Romney?
Palin would be good at it I expect, just like she was good at being governor and writing a best-seller and pulling ratings as a political analyst—and being the best counter-weight we have to Obama getting his agenda passed. But she’s also the best natural politician and political executive we’ve had since Reagan, and I’m tired of the National Review trying to diminish her.
You’ve called it perfectly!
Sarah or Newt or Alan Keyes.
Newt is an old-style machine politician.
