Christian Adams and Bill Clinton.
Who would have thought a heretofore unknown career Justice Department lawyer and the famously garrulous former President could combine to turn the spotlight on the centuries old -- if never formally acknowledged -- alliance between progressives and racism?
President Clinton first.
In winging along in his eulogy for the late West Virginia U.S. Senator Robert Byrd, former President Bill Clinton decided (impulsively?) to address the much commented upon knowledge that Senator Byrd spent part of his early career as an "Exalted Cyclops" of the Ku Klux Klan.
Blurted Clinton of that which must not be mentioned by liberals:
"He once had a fleeting association with the Ku Klux Klan, what does that mean? I'll tell you what it means. He was a country boy from the hills and hollows from West Virginia. He was trying to get elected. And maybe he did something he shouldn't have done and he spent the rest of his life making it up. And that's what a good person does. There are no perfect people. There are certainly no perfect politicians."
So. Bill Clinton says Robert Byrd was dallying with one of the most famously racist organizations in American history because he "was trying to get elected."
OK. Fair enough. (Not really, but we'll come back to this.)
But trying to get elected
to do what, exactly?

Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd, Ex-Klansman
by Michelle Malkin (March 8, 2001)
Ex-Klansman Robert Byrd, the senior senator from West Virginia, casually used the phrase "white nigger" twice on national TV this weekend. Enraged civil rights groups organized a protest campaign against Sen. Byrd and demanded that he undergo sensitivity training ... not.
The ex-Klansman, you see, is a Democrat. Democrats can join hate groups and utter the ugliest racial slurs and get away with it because they are Democrats. They belong to the party of racial tolerance and understanding. They're paragons of virtue, and the rest of us are bigoted rubes.
The ex-Klansman showed his true colors when asked by Fox News Sunday morning talk show host Tony Snow about the state of race relations in America. Sen. Byrd warned: "There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time. I'm going to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I'd just as soon quit talking about it so much."

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
In 1942, 24-year-old Byrd joined the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), whose parades in Matoaka, West Virginia, he had witnessed in his childhood. He was unanimously elected Exalted Cyclops, or leader, of his local chapter.[8]
Byrd, in his autobiography, attributed the beginnings of his political career to this incident, although he lamented that they involved the Klan. According to Byrd, a KKK official told him "You have a talent for leadership, Bob... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation." Byrd recalls that "suddenly lights flashed in my mind! Someone important had recognized my abilities! I was only 23 or 24 years old, and the thought of a political career had never really hit me. But strike me that night, it did."[4] He participated in the KKK during World War II, holding the titles Kleagle (recruiter) and Exalted Cyclops [the top officer in the local Klan unit]. He did not serve in the military during the war, working instead as a welder in a Baltimore, Maryland shipyard, where he helped build warships.[citation needed]
Byrd commented on the 1945 controversy about racially integrating the military. Byrd, when he was 28 years old, wrote to segregationist Senator Theodore Bilbo, of Mississippi, vowing never to serve in such a military:
"Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.[5]"
He had earlier written "I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side".[6][7]

From the Washington Post:
"Byrd said in the Dec. 11, 1945, letter -- which would not become public for 42 more years with the publication of a book on blacks in the military during World War II by author Graham Smith -- that he would never fight in the armed forces "with a Negro by my side." Byrd added that, "Rather I should die a thousand times, and see old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.."..."
"during the general election campaign, Byrd's GOP opponent uncovered a letter Byrd had handwritten to Green, the KKK Imperial Wizard, recommending a friend as a Kleagle and urging promotion of the Klan throughout the country. The letter was dated 1946 -- long after the time Byrd claimed he had lost interest in the Klan. "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia," Byrd wrote, according to newspaper accounts of that period. Byrd makes no mention of the letter in his new book."

Byrd was thisclose to the grand high exalted wizard of the KKK.
His position in the Klan was no mere gofer job or extraneous position.
He was near the very top of the KKK.
I’m sorry but that makes him a bona fide racist in my book.
And anybody who says otherwise is probably a racist themselves which means most of the democrats IN Washington DC.
Why blacks keep voting for racist democrats I will never know.
The only time democrats ever give a hoot about blacks or minorities is at election time. All the rest of the time they ignore them, neglect them, pay only lip service to them, discount them or just out and out screw them over.
Byrd maintained his pro-segregation stance into the mid-1960s. Most notably, he and other Democrats attempted to obstruct the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by means of a filibuster; Byrd personally filibustered the bill for more than 14 hours. As the floor manager for the segregationists, Byrd made the argument that the writers of the Declaration of Independence did not intend that these words should be taken literally to be true when they wrote that all men are created equal. Men and races of men differ in appearance, ways, physical power, mental capacity, creativity, and vision, Byrd added. One man is born blind. Another is born lame. Geniuses are not made; they are born. Between two individuals, as between two races, there are broad differences.
Also in his 1964 filibuster, Byrd introduced a study by Frank Boaz, whose book The Mind of Primitive Man stated that white peoples brains weighed a few grams more than black peoples brains, and that whites were thus more intelligent. At another point, Byrd cited biblical scripture to make his case for segregation: In Leviticus, chapter 19, verse 19, we find the words: Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow they field with mingled seed. Gods statutes, therefore, recognize the natural order of the separateness of things.
According to Washington Post journalist Eric Pianin, Byrd, after the 1964 Civil Rights Act was enacted despite his efforts to derail it, like other southern and border-state Democrats of his time came to realize that he would have to temper his blatantly segregationist views and edge toward his partys mainstream if he wanted to advance on the national stage.
Byrd felt great antipathy for Martin Luther King, Jr. and his successful nonviolent civil-rights tactics. Seeking to discredit King in any way possible,

And it's going to get more vicious. The Democrats are about to kick blacks to the curb in favor of Hispanics. It's a numbers thing, so hopefully blacks won't take it too hard.
What is the connection? What is the same in these events that are, after all, some 70 years apart?
The point in each instance was and is to enflame a solitary race of people for political purposes. Whites for the progressive Byrd, blacks and Latinos for the progressive Obama. And by so doing scoop up the votes at the next election and the next and the next -- with the presumed progressive election victories used to inflate Big Government even more -- just in time to provide more services to the targeted race.
Exactly right!
SEAN HANNITY: But Reverend Jeremiah Wright is not backing down and has not for years and in his strong stance on the teaching of black liberation theology is nothing new. He had the same things to say last spring when he appeared on "Hannity & Colmes:"
WRIGHT: If you're not going to talk about theology in context, if you're not going to talk about liberation theology that came out of the '60s, systematized black liberation theology that started with Jim Cone in 1968 and the writings of Cone and the writings of Dwight Hopkins and the writings of womynist theologians and Asian theologians and Hispanic theologians, then you can't talk about the black value system.
HANNITY: But I'm a reverend
WRIGHT: Do you know liberation theology, sir?

Although it [The New Black Panther Party] says it sees capitalism as the fundamental problem with the world and revolution as the solution, the new party does not draw its influences from Marxism or Maoism as the original party did. Instead, in a carefully-worded, roundabout form of ethnic nationalism,[8] they say that Marx based his ideology and teachings on indigenous African cultures, and that the NBPP therefore need not look to Marxism or Maoism as a basis for their program, but can look to ideologies that stem directly from those African origins.

Excellent article, thanks for posting.
The democrat party is all about divisiveness not about unity and they use class warfare as the chief weapon.
Turning the poor against the rich.
Turning black and brown against white.
Turning Protestants against Christians and Jews.
Turning failures against success stories.
Turning deadbeats against productive members of society.
This is the recipe for democrats to lie their way to victory in elections.
It’s about time somebody said it!!!

BUCHANAN TO OBAMA
By Patrick J. Buchanan
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America . Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.... This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.. Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ‘ 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants.Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude??
Barack talks about new ‘ladders of opportunity’ for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for ‘deserving’ white kids...? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America ‘s fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?
Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?
We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago. This needs to be passed around because, this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!
OK...........
will you pass it on ?
YES. I did but will you?
Because I’m for a better America
Shocking, simply shocking, to find that a thugocracy would favor raw power over freedom and justice. /sarc/
You have to ask yourself why it would be that the losers of a war got to write the history books that tell the stories about the war and about the people who they blame for the war. Liberal southerners, in effect, got to write black Americans out of 20th century classroom history books - all the better to create a dependent class for them to manipulate and use to agitate.
What a trio! A “former” Black Muslim racist “Preacher” of Black Power theology, a Pro Palestinian Jewish traitor and a “former” Communist terrorist now posing as a “Catholic Priest” all together for a photo op.

They’ll just blame Republicans.
All three are Communist. The commie left only USES religious issues to help them advance their revolutionary communist agenda. The "Black Muslim" movement in the US, btw, is largely a 'Black Liberation' communist front movement. It's no different than Wright's so-called "church".
