WASHINGTON - President Obama may get liberal Elena Kagan on the Supreme Court, but conservative swing-voter Anthony Kennedy says he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
Justice Kennedy, who turns 74 this month, has told relatives and friends he plans to stay on the high court for at least three more years - through the end of Obama's first term, sources said.

In this bizarro world, Kennedy is considered a conservative.
If I remember correctly, Justice Kennedy has shown himself to be somewhat of a wildcard, a McCain-ish maverick.
Certainly better than the Sapphite branch of the Bench, Ginsbugh, Sotomayor, and, soon, Kagan.
If Kennedy (conservative?) were to retire because of health or even die and Republicans retake Congress in November, the best we can hope for is a stalemate on any additional liberal appointments to the Court. Ø will never appoint even a remotely conservative justice. So we will have the "fascistic four" and a core block of four conservatives. With no swing vote, this could be a two edged sword - preventing needed cases from being heard by the Court (the "right" of sodomites to "marry" each other) or allowing pernicious cases to deadlock ("health" care mandate.)
Good for him to stay on. I hope a case involving Obama reaches the court and fails. That would be a nice retirement gift for him.
my immediate thought- how far we have fallen when Anthony Kennedy is described as a “conservative”
I suppose that makes Ruthy Buzzy Ginsberg a moderate centrist
The media is so far to the left that Kennedy looks like a “conservative” to them.
