GALLUP : Obama Job Approval Rating Down to 38% Among Independents
Gallup ^ | 07/07/2010 | Jeffrey Jones

Overall job ratings for the president continue to be below majority level.

PRINCETON, NJ -- Thirty-eight percent of independents approve of the job Barack Obama is doing as president, the first time independent approval of Obama has dropped below 40% in a Gallup Daily tracking weekly aggregate. Meanwhile, Obama maintains the support of 81% of Democrats, and his job approval among Republicans remains low, at 12%.

These data are based on Gallup Daily tracking interviews conducted the week of June 28-July 4.

Over the past year, Obama has lost support among all party groups, though the decline has been steeper among independents than among Republicans or Democrats. Today's 38% approval rating among independents is 18 percentage points lower than the 56% found July 6-12, 2009. During the same period, his support has fallen nine points among Democrats (from 90% to 81%) and eight points among Republicans (from 20% to 12%).

Overall, 46% of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing as president in the June 28-July 4 aggregate, one point above his lowest weekly average. Obama's average weekly job approval rating has not been above 50% since Feb. 8-14, though it reached the 50% mark as recently as May 3-9.

He also has a baseline approval rating of 99% among one demographic, a demographic among which it is unlikely that Reagan ever had a 30% approval rating and among which Clinton’s approval probably dipped below 70% at times.

That 35% is the foundation upon which they will attempt to construct a Clintonian plurality for 2012.

I never, ever, thought I would say this but give me Hillary right now and call it a day. She's pragmatic whereas Obamarx is simply evil/incompetent.

Since K'Toon moved into the WH with 43% of the "vote," I'm not surprised he was still at 43% 18 months into his term.

Meanwhile, 18 months into his first term President George W. Bush's Job Approval Rating, per Gallup so add 5% minumum:
07/05/2002 - 07/08/2002
75% Approving, 18% Disapproving, 6% Dumb

There's that 24% commie base who currently support the POE.

Obama has another problem with 2012 that Reagan and Clinton didn’t have.

On the international scene, nobody screwed with Reagan because they were fearful of US military might, and believed that Reagan would use it.

Clinton came around at a very lucky time; China was not yet a world power, the USSR had collapsed and the “2nd World” that opposed us in the Cold War had vanished. The Moslems were not yet the problem they are now. Plus, Clinton’s predecessor had just put on such an overwhelming display of military superiority in the Gulf War that no one dared challenge us. So on the international scene, he wasn’t tested.

This is different. The world’s leaders know 0bama is weak and won’t fight them. They also question American power as being weakened by our economic status as the world’s #1 beggar state. 0bama is going to be challenged. While that challenge will give him a temporary spike in his approval as Americans always rally around their leader in time of crisis, we all know that handling a real crisis is above his pay grade. The only thing he can do is use his toadies in Congress to ram through socialist legislation. When a real crisis comes (I mean a really bad one, not just an oil leak), he’s going to fail worse than Jimmuh Carter. And the American people will dump him, just like Carter.

I can’t believe 38% of Americans are that infernally stupid.

if the media actually did their job and stop acting like a cult or groupies his numbers would be more down but sadly we have a corrupt media and many in this country which look for a D or R and ten vote regardless of their lack of knowledge.
I’ve met some dopes wo still think he is doing alright and yet they have no clue about the oil spill, Soros, AZ law, black panthers, Russian spying, lack of leadership the list is endless

if these dopes actually got off their arse and looked into obama then they would see how he is destroying this great country with the backing of Soros and his money

They may be angry, but they still need someone to vote for. Unfortunately, we can't put "Unnamed Republican" on the ballot, and Obama is still polling fairly well against just about every Republican with a name and a face who is being talked about as a candidate.

Reagan eventually reaped the reward from the seeds he had planted earlier (marginal tax reduction), while Clinton was salvaged by Monica and the MSM. Obama and the Democrats have been so out of control that they will reap only a whirlwind.

Hard to do without a Perot.

As the 2008 election demonstrated, third parties have pretty close to zero appeal.

In fact, absent a well-known candidate (like Perot, Anderson, LaFollette and Roosevelt) no third party ever gets much more than 2% of the vote.

I'm not sure who the celebrity third party candidate who will siphon GOP votes could be at this point.

You White people should be ashamed of your race.
Being against our first Black president (small “p”) shows your bigotry and hatred for this Muslim Black (partially) man (small “m”).

SHAME on you!

Depending on who the Republican nominee is, it could be a Tea Party candidate.

Is it any wonder they are going after the Hispanic vote with this fight against Arizona? He looses the Independents and it’s all over - unless he can gain a significant amount of another demographic.

Probably pedophiles. No doubt he's working on it.

Remember that this third party will be covertly funded by the Baraqqis (Soros) and will have media adulation.

If Charlie Crist wins in Florida, he’s one of their likely candidates.

People always remember Perot in 1992 and 1996 but then forget John Anderson the “Moderate” Republican spoiler who ran in 1980.

Given how lousy Carter was as President, not even a spoiler could save him as Perot did Clinton.

Obama is Carter 2.0
