Sheila Jackson Lee in Favor of Federal Government Stripping Texas of State Sovereignty
Galveston County Examiner ^ | 7-1-2010 | Rene Edwards

Posted on 07/07/2010 10:21:31 AM PDT by lainie

The Progressives (a.k.a. Democrats) are up to their old tricks. On the eve of the eve of the Fourth of July Weekend, counting on little attention being given to their actions in the House due to celebration preparations, they are discussing and voting on HR 4899 Additional FY2010 and Disaster Spending.

Now who could be against providing more funds to assist our boys in uniform, especially right before the Fourth of July, right? That is the Progressive Strategy and that is why they have attached numerous ‘expenditures’ which have nothing to do with funding the War in Afghanistan. This bill was not available for review until 11:00 this morning for to discussion and voting. One of these expenditures, other than the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill to the Afghanistan War Supplemental, affect Texas.

Conservatives really need to watch Cspan, especially over the weekend and before/during a Holiday as very interesting stuff comes to light and is never reported. Today, Cspan revealed a rather “contained” argument between CongressWOMAN ‘Sheils’ Jackson Lee (thank you, Michael Berry) and Congressman John Culberson (Bless You!) of an expenditure found on Page 14 of the Bill that will strip Texas’ State Sovereignty, as protected by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. Page 14 gives the Federal Government Control over the money spent on education in Texas, stipulating that Texas must spend, in the future, no less than the highly stimulus-inflated dollar figure to be spent in 2011. The result to Texans? A substantial increase of taxes and extreme economic hardship for the State. When Rep. Culberson brought this to her attention, several times, mind you, CongressWOMAN Lee said that she fully supports the wording and content of that particular clause as it is supported by forty plus school districts. This on the heals of the conservative victory of what will be taught in our schools. Do you suppose there is a correlation here?

Texas is a conservative stronghold and the Progressives are trying very hard to gain control of our state. We now see the true colors of CongressWOMAN Lee and ALL of Texas needs to support conservative candidate John Faulk to remove this Texas traitor from the U.S. House of Representatives for she does not represent Texans!

For more information as to other conservative candidates to support across the country, please go to a grassroots committee website "www.peopleschoice.ning.com"

Sheila Don’t-You-Know-Who-I-Am Jackson-Lee complained there wasn’t a black college in Texas when the second oldest state college in Texas practically outside her window is one. Prairie View A&M was established in 1876.

Sheila Don’t-You-Know-Who-I-Am Jackson-Lee complained and threw a hissy fit because flight attendants wouldn’t bump her from her coach ticket to first class and made her sit with the common folk.

...stipulating that Texas must spend, in the future, no less than the highly stimulus-inflated dollar figure to be spent in 2011.

From Directive 10-289 in Atlas Shrugged:

6. All business establishments will produce the same amount every year as they did in the baseline known as the Yardstick Year, to be enforced by the Unification Board.

7. All citizens must purchase the same amount of goods every year as they did in the Yardstick Year, to be enforced by the Unification Board.

They are sure trying either secession or outright rebellion. So far they have:

Moved BAE military truck manufacturing from Sealy to Wisconsin. Union payoff

Turned NASA into a muslim outreach program.

Ignore the mexican border while the northern mexican states are in control of a dangerous narco army.

Offshore drilling being tied up in the courts will put thousands of prople out of work in TX and LA.

Medical industry takeover will severly affect MD Anderson cancer center. MD Anderson attracts patients from all over the world.

This is being done on purpose. obama is president of those who voted for him and no one else.

The answer for Texas, and the other 49 (or is it 57) States.
Keep 100% of the taxes collected for schools.

What is the point of sending billions to Washington , then Washington sends some of it back.

All it does is feed a federal bureaucracy.

I asked her if she’d heard of SJL or Cynthia McKinney or Maxine Waters...

nope, hadn’t heard of them.

SJL may be full of hors__it, but the 14th does NOT affect State soverignty.

I saw that and thought it an odd cite as well ... as far as I understand, no amendment has anything to do with protecting a State's sovereignty, the only thing specifically enumerated that comes close is Article IV, Section 3:

The Congress shall have Power to dispose of and make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States; and nothing in this Constitution shall be so construed as to Prejudice any Claims of the United States, or of any particular State.

I also do not see this as "stripping Texas' State Sovereignty" so much as it is yet another unfunded mandate. This has been done ad nauseum to all the states, not just Texas, why is this particular being singled out as a sleight-of-hand maneuver?

Is it possible that Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson-Lee are in some sort of liberal contest?

Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson-Lee seem to have become useless at about the time in spite of Maxine Waters ten year head start over Sheila Jackson-Lee.

Perhaps the contest is not between the ladies but rather between California's 35th district and Texas's 18th district over who can elect the most pitiful example to Congress.

Those two say far more about the people who elect them than it could ever say about them.

I am truly curious who the residents are of their respective states and districts. I would imagine that for Maxine Waters to remain in office the 35th district would have to be a very carefully carved out portion of L.A. County. An equally carefully carved out section of Houston is the only way Sheila Jackson-Lee could remain in office.
