On paper, Arizona's controversial new immigration law is not that different from the federal version.
But the key difference is this: Arizona wants every illegal immigrant caught and deported. The federal government says treating all 11 million of the nation's illegal immigrants as criminals would overwhelm the system.
In its lawsuit challenging the Arizona law, the Justice Department says its policy is to focus on dangerous immigrants: gang members, drug traffickers, threats to national security. Law-abiding immigrants without documentation would largely be left alone.
Homeland Security officials say the government cannot possibly find, arrest and deport everyone who is here illegally. And trying to do so would also upset a balance crafted by Congress that takes into account humanitarian interests and foreign relations.
But proponents of the Arizona solution insist that's no reason not to try. And they say the state's toughest-in-the-nation law is a reasonable way to start.

“And trying to do so would also upset a balance crafted by Congress that takes into account humanitarian interests and foreign relations.”
Better:
And trying to do so would also upset a balance crafted by Congress that takes into account payoffs and subsequent treason.
Well Bubba, you don’t have to find them or arrest them, just deport them. The Arizona law says we find them, arrest them and turn them over to the Feds to deport. If they can’t even do a third of their job, we need to get rid of federal employees and just have things done locally with the exception of the military.
If the feds don’t do the job, there is a higher law which allows victims of government inaction to take care of the job by “self help”
But the key difference is this: Arizona wants every bank robber and rapist caught and dealt with. The federal government says treating all the nation's bank robbers and rapists as criminals would overwhelm the system.
In its lawsuit challenging the Arizona law, the Justice Department says its policy is to focus on dangerous bank robbers and rapists: gang members, drug traffickers, threats to national security. Otherwise law-abiding bank robbers and rapists would largely be left alone.
Homeland Security officials say the government cannot possibly find, arrest and deport everyone who is robbing banks and raping people. And trying to do so would also upset a balance crafted by Congress that takes into account humanitarian interests and foreign relations...

Shovel-ready jobs.
enforcing illegal immigrants as criminals would overwhelm the system...
Really, prove it!
Second, ILLEGAL ALIEN immigrants are CRIMINALS; you frackn pedantic idiot.
Third, as much money as is spent on public representatives, law enforcement, public safety and military then we are wasting our time and resources as a nation if they cannot even do their jobs.
The Clown Show can't fight it successfully without lies and smears and corrupt judges. And they know it.
"Go ahead...make my day".
Here's hoping they and the Alphabet Media further expose themselves as the incompetent hacks that they are, and further the publik's disgust with them.
They ARE criminals!
That's a legislative issue, not something for the courts to be concerned about. If enforcing the law over strips the funds allocated, then congress can either increase funding, change the law, or continue letting the executive branch use the lack of sufficient funding as an excuse for totally ineffective enforcement.
It is just up to the courts to make sure everything is constitutional and no laws are being broken by those involved. It is not up to the courts to try and find a solution.
The Arizona law also doesn't force the federal government to deport these illegal immigrants or to enforce Arizona's laws. That is up to Arizona, so the argument has no merrit to begin with.
Ping!
Bob Christie says that the primary difference is that, at the Federal level, law-abiding undocumented immigrants would be left alone.
Well, Mr. Dork, the same is true with SB 1070 as amended. We’re only going to turn them over to ICE after they’ve broken the law and come in contact with a LEO.
Sheesh, Mr. Dork, how stupid do you think we are? Never mind, I don’t need your answer to that. You’ve already answered if for me.
Works every time to point out the hypocrisy, don’t it?
Opponents of enforcing the law know that it works as a deterrent but don’t want those democrats deported.
Actually, that is exactly what federal law also "wants" on paper - it provides that every immigrant entering or staying in the country contrary to federal requirements is breaking the law and the penalty is deportation.
It is politicians who choose not to enforce what the federal law "wants," to use the AP's verb.
What bugs me is they think we are so stupid.
I know..it’s very frustrating...I’d love to unload on some of these people in the MSM.
This is something that was sent to me by my niece back home in Pittsburgh, Pa ( We are definitely not noted for being politically correct)
Drinking with an ARIZONA Girl:
A Mexican, an Arab, and an Arizona girl are in the same bar.
When the Mexican finishes his beer, he throws his glass in the air,
pulls out his pistol, and shoots the glass to pieces. He says, ‘In Mexico,
our glasses are so cheap we don’t need to drink with the same one twice.’
The Arab, obviously impressed by this, drinks non-alcohol beer
(cuz he’s a muslim!), throws it into the air, pulls out his AK-47, and shoots
the glass to pieces. He says, ‘In the Arab World, we have so much
sand to make glasses that we don’t need to drink with the same one twice either.’
The Arizona girl, cool as a cucumber, picks up her beer, downs it in one gulp,
throws the glass into the air, whips out her 45, and shoots the Mexican and the Arab.
Catching her glass, setting it on the bar, and calling for a refill, she says,’In Arizona,
we have so many illegal aliens that we don’t have to drink with the same ones twice.’
God Bless The USA
Salud!
