So, based on the way statistics are calculated, the unemployment rate will drop.

This is good news.

(obviously sarcasm!)

I have a sense that these folks aren’t “deadbeats” who really had no interest in working. I believe most are well educated, skilled and formerly hard-working individuals. How are these people coping? Is there any realistic hope on the horizon?

Those being cut off must face the reality that tomorrow is not yesterday. The weaning off unemployment is necessary for continued life.

Their job, the one from which they were laid off, is gone. It will be no more. Hope for staying in the same old rut is a vain rationalization.

If there are no more jobs locally and if the ability or initiative to make one’s own job is lacking, the only option is to move to a location where there is work.

If they stimulus had kept the unemployment rate below 8% like they said it would, we wouldn’t have this problem. Now they want us to fork over some more money to cover their incompetence. Again.

They will extend the benefits when Congress returns next week. All thy need is a new Senator from West Virginia or one Republican to fold.

I remember when unemployment benefits ran out and you were expected to understand when that was about to happen and you knew that the govt. was not god or your daddy. You went out and did whatever you had to do to eat including take crappy jobs and move in with family members.

If 3 million people’s unemployment benefits run out then I can’t believe Congress will be passing any kind of amnesty bill anytime soon.

Unemployment numbers aren’t based on this, it’s based on a phone survey. Also, people are getting cut off after 26 weeks now and so on all the way up to 99. This isn’t just the 99’s getting the axe. People really need to learn these 2 facts.

They really gotta get back after their vacation and get on this.

The Dems are desperate to get some of these back to work before the election so they cut their benefits.

As an aside. My son graduated from a vocational school, and got a dead end job here in Ohio. He and his girl friend were online and found a job opening in Wyoming. He sent his resume and the company flew him out for an interview. Flew him back home and a few weeks later flew him out to hire him, and flew him back home.
He works on heavy, really huge, mining equipment.
A friend of his from hs showed up last week. He went to a welding company. He had already sent his resume, and they interviewed him right then. That same day he was hired.
That takes some guts to move your wife and child when he has no real propects.
My son says that many places only run one shift because of the lack of workers. Just saying...........
