“How long should unemployment benefits be paid? Isn’t 99 weeks, almost two years, enough?”

I have the same concern, but I also have concern about this many folks being cut off at the same time. Desperate people may act in desperate ways.

That sounds like extortion. We have a safety net, i.e., food stamps, Medicaid, etc. We can't continue to bankrupt the country paying out unemployment benefits ad infinitum. Where is the money coming from? The federal government and the states are broke.

We had a Depression in this country. By and large, the people acted responsibly. And we didn't have a huge, public safety net like today. If we were really concerned as a nation about American jobs, we wouldn't be bringing in 125,000 LEGAL FOREIGN WORKERS A MONTH.
