“Except, he don’t have a job, so mom’s gotta pay the ticket,”

WHAT?

"I think killing 2 friends is a lifetime sentence. No further punishment needed."

Amazing.

"Except, he don't have a job, so mom's gotta pay the ticket," she said.

No, mom doesn't gotta pay the ticket!

Momma obviously has no sense. You do not buy a kid a phone with which you can text. If they want a phone, you buy the cheapest going. Next, you do not buy the kid a car, period.

Mom doesn’t have to pay the ticket, the son pays it off by getting a job! No job, no pay fine, go to jail!

“Except, he don’t have a job, so mom’s gotta pay the ticket,” she said. “So, it’s kind of a lesson to me.” In her vernacular, no he don’t==let him work it out with the court...

I had a '71 Duster. It was a dream to work on the engine. Easy access to just about everything except one of the oil pan bolts. That required me to buy a one half inch 1/4 inch drive 12 point socket. The 3/8 inch drive was 12 point but too big. Neither the open end nor the closed end wrench would fit. The six point wouldn't turn the bolt far enough.

When the frame fell apart it was done, but the engine would start right up.

And you didn't need to have a degree in computers to work on them.

Daddy’s was a’73. I was only 21, so didn’t know how simple these “big” problems probably were. The foolishness of being young and not knowing better. I would have kept his car and bought his house.

Seems like the starters on the slant 6 engines were junk but super easy to change and pretty cheap. You didn’t even have to crawl under the car. I took an old one out and put in a new one in under 20 minutes sitting in the parking lot of the parts store once.

LOL! exactly. When I changed mine, it was an automatic transmission. There wasn't one more start in it and I didn't know anyone available to take me to the parts store. The walk to and from the parts store (A mile away) took a lot longer than actually taking it out and putting it in.

Yeah, the starters were kinda crappy. Do you remember that peculiar Mopar starter whine? You could tell a Mopar by the sound of the starter across a parking lot.

I heard an old Dodge start up a couple of weeks ago and knew right away what it was.

There were two slant sixes. One was the 225 which was a really good engine. The other IIRC was the 186, and it wasn't so good.

My 225 could really step out. I don't remember how many times I had to pop the hood to show that it really was a six cylinder.

I agree. Our plan has no texting, so ya gotta pay for each text. My daughter was blown away in one of her first college classes. The instructor called a ten minute break and she was the only one who didn’t instinctively reach for a cell phone. One more benefit of homeschooling. My kids know how to actually talk to paople face to face instead of in partial electronic words.
