ARIZONA (KOLD) - On the Arizona-Sonora border, since October 1, 2009, the number of human remains recovered reached 153, according to the Coalición de Derechos Humanos spokesperson Kat Rodriguez.
The Tucson based organization comprised medical examiner reports from Pima, Yuma and Cochise counties in order to formulate the death count.
Communities continue to witness death on the U.S.-Mexico border, while the immigration debate rages on.
Since Derechos Humanos started their organization fifteen years, about 2,000 deaths have occurred along the border, Rodriquez stated.

Well, it’s kind of self-explanatory. If you didn’t attempt to cross the desert and enter the U.S. illegally, you would still be alive and legal in your quaint, little home town in Mexico. Unless you’re in the drug business, then you can get killed just about anywhere, but I digress

Yeah, especially since we’re such an eeeevil country that has, according to ObaMao, “shown arrogance” all of these years.

Yep. And by the time Obummer finishes taking his wrecking ball to our economy, Mexico will probably have more jobs available than we do.
This time of year, the Sonora Desert is vicious. In places, temps can reach 140F. Officially, lying down in the shade, an individuals water consumption can reach 5 gallons a day.
And many of the people trying to cross are not from desert parts of Mexico, are not familiar with desert, and have only a vague idea of how far they have to travel on foot. Without a “coyote” (guide), you will likely die. And even many coyotes die.
Some years ago, a large group of women from central America tried to cross the Sonora in print dresses and high heels. Their group died, as did their coyote.
Of course for some that big bale of weed they're carrying on their back adds a bit to the likely hood they won't make it.
And I read somewhere the other day that Jan Brewer made public that several dead bodies found in the AZ desert had been decapitated, drug cartel warfare on U.S. soil. In the meantime, our glorious leader is “monitoring” the situation to see if cartel violence spills over into the U.S.

And its been hot and dry until very recently.
How many haven’t been found is the question. Whole groups dying in the desert isn’t unheard of, and with the USBP relying more and more on technolgy, it is possible that we won’t find the bodies/skeletons for some time. And with the Feds discouraging use of public lands south of I-8, we may never find some.
Too true. I no longer hunt so much down here because of the drug runners.
My husband found a human skull in his hunting pasture in south Texas at least 30 years ago. This was before the drug trade got so bad. The person probably died from the heat, south Texas gets pretty hot in the summer too. He could have been bitten by a rattlesnake or murdered by someone. I am sure it has always been pretty common to die making the trip.
