WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a major set of power-plant air-pollution rules this week, but even more far- reaching regulations are in the works.
Within the next several months, the EPA is expected to develop new rules to reduce mercury and hazardous air pollutants, while also creating standards for coal ash.
"This regulatory train wreck will have a big impact on the power sector," said Dan Riedinger, a spokesman for the Edison Electric Institute.
This week, the EPA announced new air pollution standards for power plants in 31 states and the District of Columbia, know as the "Transport Rule." The rules aim to limit pollution that drifts from upwind states into neighboring downwind states. Ohio coal plants, for example, are a cause of air pollution in Maryland.

I think the EPA is going bezerk in order to provide leverage to get Cap and Trade passed. I.e., “Pass the bill, and we’ll have the EPA ease up. Otherwise...” In fact, the Cap and Trade bills I’ve seen have also included provisions banning the EPA from interference.
They need to destroy the energy industry to kill America.
Pray for America
“Your utility bills will necessarily skyrocket.”
Well, here’s some of that that “uncertainty” thats tanking the economy.
The federal government is commiting suicide.
Once these draconian regulations start shutting down millions of homes and businesses, and no one can travel or cook food or heat their homes solely because a bunch of hypocrite liberals openly tell everyone to die - even though they don’t have any scientific evidence whatsoever to back them up - there will come a snapping point so loud the heavens will roll with thunder and lightning.
And when that point comes, God help any collectivist of any stripe.
Leftist, liberal, socialist, communist, progressive, Democrat, RINO - the meme-spin lawyer-labels won’t matter one damn bit.
OF course, it is OK for EPAs Lisa Johnson to pollute the entire Gulf of Mexico with the two types of toxic Corexit oil dispersant, with its evaporative extension via rainfall to potentially pollute the entire eastern seaboard. The worldwide supplies of Corexit are almost all used up to current production, and....
Look up NALCO, who owns it, what climate Chicago carbon futures exchange financial and political persons are big investors in it!
Even if the Repubs take over Congress, I’m not sure there’s anything that can be done to stop the EPA if they can just issue any kind of reg they want.
Right now we need to get our economic machine going again (actually, going better since it’s not stopped now by a long shot). When you mash the gas, more fumes belch from the tailpipe. That’s just the way it is. We need horsepower now, not brakes.
Let the cities go dark.
That seems to be what they want anyway, but let it begin with D.C.
I don’t remember ever swearing any sort of an oath or pledge of allegiance to the EPA in school or anywhere else. If we can’t stop this **** we really need to split the country up.
After both reading about and partly observing the relatively sophisticated methods of Fabian socialism to remake our society over the last 100 years or so, I am almost shocked at the level of crude and myopic tactics used by this administration. It’s like they are literally trying to piss off every last person in the country.
