The history of the Democrat Party is full of Racism. Andrew Jackson the first Democrat President forced the Cherokee out of the East and protected the slave owners. This continued through the Civil War. Afterward Democrats used law to prevent Black Americans from voting and where laws did not work intimidation did. KKK was considered a rite of passage for Democrat politicians. Besides Byrd, Harry Truman also was a member. Don't forget the internment of Japanese-Americans during FDR's administration.
