Scott was crouched down with a backpack in front of him in a sporting goods aisle, the witness said. Scott had taken a large package of sport drink bottles off the shelf and placed it on the floor in front of him. He had torn open the package to get at the contents and was placing the bottles in and out of the backpack.

"It was like he was trying it out," the man said. "I think possibly he was trying to see if it would fit in his backpack." link

Thanks for the link to the story. Why didn't you mention that the same witness who saw him trying out the bottles in his backpack also saw him reach for his gun in the parking lot and calling it a "dumb move"? The story also quotes another witness who saw him reach for his gun and said the shooting was probably justified.
