SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The safety of Utah's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is the topic of a Tuesday night town hall meeting at the Salt Lake City Library.

The Utah Pride Center says a panel will hold a discussion with police officers, prosecutors and community representatives.

Pride spokesman Michael Westley says the group will release the results of a survey of 500 people on safety questions.

Westley says nearly 70 percent of the respondents say they feel an increased sense of safety related to housing and employment discrimination issues.

Only 26 percent of respondents said they feel safe expressing themselves in non-LGBT bars or clubs.

I am in SL quite often and I'm often happen to be at one or two of the bars. This sentence stuck out to me:

Only 26 percent of respondents said they feel safe expressing themselves in non-LGBT bars or clubs.

Because they're gay or they're afraid of embarrassing themselves at a bar while intoxicated? Believe you me, I'm liable to laugh at anyone who makes a fool of themselves, straight or not.

Maybe they think won’t be able to stop themselves from pointing and screaming “BREEDER!” at the other 99.9% of the Utah population, or unleashing their own left-winged hatred.

Couldn’t they just all move to the cesspool named San Francisco?

Maybe if they’d not rub their jubblies in septic places,
they’d be “safer” from certain consequences that kill them.

Good to see that SLC government officials and reps are tackling the tough and pressing issues of the day.

There is absolutely NO evidence of any kind to justify such fears. None. THe VAST MAJORITY of human beings are disgusted by homosexuality, but that rarely results in violence.

Not that perverted, public behaior does not deserve say, a knock on the noggin with a frying pan.

Oh puhleeze. It’s not like homosexuals are being dragged off the street and hung from the nearest tree. I would venture a guess that violence against homosexuals is most often committed against them by another homo (by a wide margin). I don’t have statistics, but I know for sure that the media would be trumpeting any attacks against gays in the same way they trumpeted the Mathew Shepherd thing.

What’s the rationale for this? Has there been an epidemic of violence against gays anywhere in this country recently? Just askin....

I'm not a skydiver, I see no need to every jump out of a perfectly good airplane.

That said, why aren't people banning together to worry about the Safety of Sky Divers like they are the safety of the gays.

I mean, people choose to be skydivers, like people choose to be gay.

Skydiving is risky, gay sex is risky.

Skydivers are a minority, as is the gay population.

I think skydivers need "special rights" to...along with race car drivers, motorcyclists, coal miners...any dangerous lifestyle choice should enjoy the same attention and equal rights concerns as another.

They are promoting the BIG LIE that the greatest health risk to a homosexual is getting physically assaulted by a straight member of society, when in fact it is health risks due to sexually transmitted diseases, aberrant sexual behavior, multiple partners, drug use, and issues related to poor lifestyle choices. They might as well convene a meeting to discuss how to prevent cigarette smokers from getting beat up by offended non-smokers.

Trumpeted or trumped up like Harvey Milk who was killed by an agent of Jim Jones?

THe VAST MAJORITY of human beings are disgusted by homosexuality, but that rarely results in violence.

In fact, the most notably widespread campaign of violence in recent memory was that directed against supporters of Proposition 8, aka the California Marriage Protection Act, in California, by its "tolerant", "persecuted" opponents.

You'll search quite a while for a headline suggesting the same kinds of organized, violent attacks on homosexuals and their property as "Gays call for Violence Against Christian Supporters of Proposition 8":

The activists and media will do either to promote their leftist agenda.
