The campaign to move the 2011 All-Star Game out of Phoenix to protest Arizona's immigration law heated up this week, with some of baseball's superstars threatening to sit it out and demonstrators trying to deliver thousands of petitions to Commissioner Bud Selig.
The increased pressure coincided with this year's All-Star Game, which was to be played Tuesday night in Anaheim.

I am a life-long baseball fan. If they do this. I will never watch the All-Star game again.

All-star game? F baseball if they move it.
If they do this, it will spell the end of the Diamondbacks franchise in Arizona - ticket sales will plummet from already poor numbers.
Idiots watching ball games support Obama. NBA, NFL, MBL, NCAA, ESPN all support him 110%. I cancelled TV a year ago. Ball games are huge profits for the media who control your life and gave your the muslim.
Here’s a question for Commissioner Bud:
How did MLB do after 1994 when overpaid players followed their egos and went on strike, to the point the whole blasted World Series was cancelled?
How long did the fans stay away? And wasn’t it only when you introduced steroid-pumped freaks making a joke out of the Home Run record did they find interest again? (BTW, that dog won’t hunt a second time around....)
So go ahead, and go completely against the fans again. I’m sure they’ll be very understanding of your player’s egos!
If they do move it - boycott it. Boycotts can go both ways.
I would just as soon watch paint dry, as watch a stupid ball game.
Roberto Lovato, whose group Presente.org launched the MoveTheGame.org website, said activists were kicked out by security when they tried to deliver 110,000 petitions to Selig at the Anaheim Marriott on Monday.

The victory over Lou Dobbs demonstrates that the immigrant community is mobilized like never before.

Immigrant Latinos live under a matrix of oppressive laws, customs and institutions.

Latino voters walked away from the GOP in the midterm elections, a payback for the party’s ruthlessly anti-immigrant stance.

This year will be remembered both for massive immigrants rights marches and for the Al Qaedization of immigrants.

Lovato is the co-founder of Presente.org, a grassroots-meets-online organization for the advancement of Latinos, responsible for Basta Dobbs, the most notorious of the Latino grassroots organizations that demanded the firing of the anchor. The activists accused Dobbs of fueling anti-immigrant extremism, and CNN of double standard for profiting from hatred against Latinos while courting them with Latino talent and Latino-oriented programming.
Main points of contention for the campaign were Dobbs false assertions that illegal immigrants had caused an exponential rise in leprosy, and that this group also constituted one-third of the prisoners in federal jails.
The Latino tide against Dobbs gained strength this year after a series of hate crimes in New York City and Long Island was attributed by activists to the anti-immigrant rhetoric of which he was the most visible face. The spark that finally lit the fire was the commentators participation in the Hold Their Feet to the Fire rally in September in Washington, DC. The event was organized by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), considered by some to be a hate group.
We knew that CNN was divided by Lou Dobbs We made a strategic decision to help the forces of good inside CNN.
Is there a petition to keep it in Arizona? If there is one, I’ll post it on my Facebook page. With most of the country supporting Arizona, it wouldn’t take long to outnumber the others.
Come on over to the NHL. Hockey fans are conservatives.
Everyone who has baseball season tickets need to write to their club and let them know that if they move, you will not purchase tickets again. Much as you love the game, you love your country more and if baseball asks you to choose, you choose your country and fellow Americans over foreigners.
All-star game? F baseball if they move it.
Truth right there.
MLB will be signing its own death warrant if they move the game, for this very reason. The backlash from season ticket holders will be FAR GREATER than whatever weak boycott these people can muster.
Is Obama thinking of suing Missouri? The “Show Me” state has once again showed us how it should be done. They need more publication and exposure on this. Let’s pass it around. Don’t be the one to drop the ball of this news.
In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment, designating English as the Official language of Missouri. Nearly 90% voting in favor. English became the official language for all governmental proceeding in Missouri. It also means no individual has the right to demand government services in a language OTHER than English.
In 2008 a measure was passed that requires our Highway Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person is found to be here illegally. It allows Missouri law enforcement offices to receive training to enforce federal immigration laws. The bill makes it clear that illegal immigrants will NOT have access to taxpayers benefits, such as food stamps and health care through Missouri HealthNet.
In 2009 a measure was passed that ensures Missouri’s public institutions of higher education do NOT award financial aid to individuals who are here illegally. The law also requires all post-secondary institutions of higher education to annually certify to the Missouri Dept. of Higher Education that they have not knowingly awarded financial aid to students who are unlawfully present in the United States.
So while Arizona has made national news for its new law, it is important to remember Missouri has been proactive in addressing this growing problem. Missouri has sent a clear message that illegal immigrants are NOT welcome in our state, and they are certainly NOT welcome to receive public benefits at the cost of Missouri taxpayers.
