Kathleen Parker: Sarah Palin, from pit bull to mama grizzly
The Washington Post ^ | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 07/13/2010 9:42:03 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Sarah Palin, the ubiquitous enchantress of the disenchanted, may not have been ready to lead the free world back when John McCain anointed her as his running mate. But she's left rubber on the road that leads to fame, fortune and a new feminine mystique that drives certain men and women wild -- in very different ways.

For what it's worth, I get a kick out of Sarah. May I call her Sarah?

She and I apparently share a certain genetic predisposition to annoy all the right people. These would be the folks who take themselves and their ideologies a tad too seriously. Thus when I was promoting my book, "Save the Males," I wore an aggressively feminine suit -- pink with a bow in back -- just to irritate hard-line feminists, who, without bothering to read the book, would hate it on sight.

I happen to hate bows, but it was worth it.

Likewise, Sarah knows just what drives us all nuts and, instead of changing her tune, she turns up the volume -- and triples down. Don't like her little red shoes? She'll add a red leather jacket. Got gloss?

This woman is not to be feared or loathed. She is to be taken with a grain of humor and a dash of admiration. A different version of Madonna, she's a public relations machine who manipulates public perception with well-timed and, recently, sophisticated messaging.

In the nearly two years since she became the first female Republican vice presidential candidate, Sarah has morphed from a pit bull with lipstick to a mama grizzly. Grrrrrrrr.

I notice that the WaComPost isn’t allowing comments on this article. Maybe they know that Kathleen Parker is a cowardly hypocrit and will be called out for it?

I wonder what the libs would say if those dismissive words had been written about Hillary Clinton? Hillary had none of the executive experience Sarah Palin has, when she herself ran for President, against another candidate who lacked experience, but was lauded by the MSM as the savior of America.

Read the whole thing, it’s pro Palin!

Not really. Kathleen Parker is saying that Sarah is a force to be reckoned with, but mostly she's damning Sarah with faint praise.

No it's not at all.

She credits Palin with saavy marketing, while dismissing any of her actual conservative ideas or agenda.

She snidely compares her to Madonna, who most serious musicians regard as a marketing phenom, rather than an artist.

Parker is smiling while taking pot shots, determined to reinforce her contention that Palin is suitable only for television rather than political office.

It's a sad little catty hit piece, which is really all that Parker is capable of typing anymore. Bless her heart.

I think the article is pro Palin in a tongue and cheek way.

Kathleen is desperately trying to attract Republicans and Conservatives to her coming new CNN show with client number 9 Eliot Spitzer.

“She and I apparently share a certain genetic predisposition to annoy all the right people.”

Ms. Parker certainly thinks highly of herself. Brazen talk from a woman who shares a tv show with a whoremaster.

"200 million people in Fly Over Country...."

Oh really?

If there's so many, how do we EVER lose an election?

We used to lose elections because of the stranglehold the MSM had on the minds of the populace + rampant voter fraud. Hopefully, with the internet, pass it on urls and emails, talk radio and a few shows on FOX, people are finally seeing and hearing the other side. People are talking more, engaging more and not being manipulated by Alinsky tactics. Intimidation used to work. Doesn't anymore. People are becoming more educated every day about Obama, his cadre and their intent. Also, we can all volunteer at our polling places and do what we can to fight vote fraud. People are angry, informed, and engaged like no time in my memory. Let's hope it produces a Voter Revolution on November 2nd!

The point, which you obviously missed, is there just ain’t 200 million in fly-over country.

Well, I read it as no matter what Sarah says, people believe her probably because she's been right on the money with the conservative majority. And in the next sentence she gives as examples of ,whatever it is, ie the Republican party conservative platform.

Upshot, Sarahs' been accepted as a major spokes person for conservatives, as has Rush.

The Midwest and South are 175 Million. Take a few million from the Northeast and at least 20 million from the West and you're nearing 200 Million. Now electoral college votes may be a different story. Population by Region
