Remember last year when Christmas Day and New Year Day were on Friday and the unemployment numbers went “down”, and the government was very happy. It was pointed out that there were back to back holidays with closed offices. So people had one less day to fill out the forms for two weeks in a row.
Same thing here.

Ah, they’ve pulled THAT trick before. But it doesn’t do them any good because it just goes back up the next week.
