I am an NRA member. I also have my eyes open. Here in my hometown, the NRA sent a mailer supporting a sheriff candidate who promptly on taking office cut existing CCW permits to near zero. And here in the People’s Republic that was too few to start with. I further noted NRA’s handling of Heller, where they came late to the game, and in McDonald where they butted in. In my book, LaPierre and Cox need to retire. NRA seems more run for the benefit of its very highly paid executives, than for the stated objectives of the organization. They’ve played defense for too long is the short version. The latest games they’re playing in DC disgust me.

SAF has carried the ball forward smartly, and is now operating in the exploitation phase after breakthroughs in DC and Chicago. They’ll be getting any spare cash I have, not the NRA, at least until the leadership changes.

Imagine this...

You are an honorably discharged United States Marine, an NRA firearms instructor in multiple disciplines, and a generally great human being...

But for some reason, the “honorable” Susan Cacace has determined that you are not worthy to have a full carry permit in your home state. There was no problem with you securing the right to CARRY a firearm in PA, FL + 30 something states, UT, CT, etc... but god forbid you should be able to carry anywhere near where you live.

Welcome to my world... The “laws” in NY are a freaking joke. If I lived 15 minutes up the road, I would have an unrestricted carry permit, good throughout the state less NYC. However, because I'm in the peoples republic of westchester county, I'm not allowed to carry a firearm except when I'm going to or from the range.

I really hope that this does something to alter the BS administrative restrictions that clowns like Cacace can put on our constitutional rights for 2 reasons. #1 I want to carry my pistol, and #2 I want to cancel my NRA membership and tell those JO’s to stick it. They have done nothing for downstate NYers, and basically laugh at you when you ask for help.

Bitter in NY,

NYLeatherneck

You claim to be an NRA member but it seems I have to explain the obvious yet again.

The NRA DID NOT come lately to Heller. That is an out and out lie.

Again for the upteenth time, Robert Levy didn’t even own a gun then or does he own one now. He started PARKER VS. CHICAGO WHEN WE WOULD HAVE LOST. THAT IS WHY THE THE NRA TRIED TO STOP IT.

Parker became Heller with the NRA and Alito and Roberts. The NRA knows how to count to nine. Something the NRA haters don’t seem to do.

If you are an NRA member you would have know all of this five years ago. The NRA was part of Heller, McDonald and just filed the lawsuit against Chicago called Benson Vs. Chicago. It’s you who doesn’t seem to know a single thing the NRA does.

I don’t believe for a second you’re a member.

Liar. You don’t know what the hell you are talking about. I’ve even got an NRA RSO cert on top of my 3 membership. That means I paid for my right to bitch when leadership screws up. And LaPierre made over a megabuck in 2004 - http://gunguys.com/lapierresalary.pdf He wasn’t worth it then, nor is he worth that much now. Nor have I forgotten what the ILA did here in Santa Barbara County by endorsing a sheriff candidate who all but ended CCW in the county. Keep drinking the Koolaid.

Thanks for the new addition to the growing list of 2.5's attacks on fellow FReepers and 2A activists... See ya on the next thread! ;-)

My NY carry permit was issued with severe restrictions, like all others in Onondaga county, by a judge who was later removed from the bench for involvement in cocaine trafficking. Was very happy when transferring the permit to Monroe county caused the restrictions to disappear. Was happier when I moved to GA and the whole issue went away (can legally carry a short-barreled suppressed machine-gun openly if so inclined).
