There’s no such thing as “reverse racisim”. Racism is racism. Period.

I believe that to use the term “reverse racism’ implies that racism is the pervue of whites. What the New Black Panthers stand for is racism. What the Obama Administration is doing is the application of racism.

“Racism”, “ethnocentrism”, etc. are actually basic human traits - humans are “tribal”. Civilization and religious teaching has gone a long way in modifying this hateful human behavior. We, as a nation, have made tremendous progress over the last 40 years in trying to create a truly “color blind” society.

Unfortunately, I see race relations deteriorating. The non-whites see the Obama Administration as “pay-back” time. By their actions, the Administration is bending over backwards to grant favors, send money, forgive wrongs, etc. to the Black community.

“2 wrongs do not make a right” - I see bad times coming.

““Racism”, “ethnocentrism”, etc. are actually basic human traits - humans are “tribal”. Civilization and religious teaching has gone a long way in modifying this hateful human behavior. We, as a nation, have made tremendous progress over the last 40 years in trying to create a truly “color blind” society.”

A very wise man once said:
“Reality is what it is. It is not what we believe it to be.”

The first sentence of you statement above is in line with this wisdom. After that, you go wrong.

The essence of conservatism is to see the world as it is, to see things as they are, to understand that which is natural and, ergo, normal, including human behavior. And - having come to that understanding - to realize that there are human behaviors and traits that are so ingrained, so innate, that they can never be simply wished away in dreams, or legislated away with laws. They are simply “there”, and remain there, no matter what we do.

Your second sentence is correct, except for one word: “hateful”. Where did that come from? Yes, we have done everything we could to “modify” a certain type of human behavior, and after bookfuls of laws and billions of dollars, where has that gotten us? Do you believe in “hate crime laws”? After all, aren’t they supposed to “get rid of hate?”

You might have answered those questions in your last sentence, but there you drive completely off the cliff. Indeed we (particulary “we” the Euros) have bent over backwards, flipped a dozen rearward affirmative-action somersaults, in “trying to create a truly color blind society”. But in truth, we make no progress at all, and our nation has only grown more and more divided.

Indeed, it was roughly forty to fifty years ago that things began to run off-course, to bring us to the approaching disaster we faintly see on the horizon today.

I take it you consider yourself to be a conservative, hence the reason you are here. Look around at other nations in historical retrospective — places like The Balkans come to mind. Places where there were ethnic divisions that are in truth much less severe than the ethnic/racial divisions and factions we now have here in the United States.

Looking at such nations, where has any country survived such divisions?

Does simply believing that we can declare ourselves to be an egalitarian society, and yet introduce into our borders all the ethnic/cultural/racial divisions that normally break nations apart, override the “human traits” you wrote about above?

Again, the quote:
“Reality is what it is. It is not what we believe it to be.”

I think you would agree that it’s preposterous to suggest that we could change the Earth’s climate and have the hubris to enact laws to that effect.

But I proffer to you that it would be even MORE difficult to change some of the most basic elements of human nature.

Can mere laws can “change” them, as well?

“The non-whites see the Obama Administration as “pay-back” time.”

I don’t think that Asians and Hispanics are thinking that right now. Mind you, the Black Pampers (genius whoever coined that phrase) are talking about killing whites, but unfortunately these maniacs will likely think to subjugate the others, which will not fly.
