Reagan served two full terms as governor of one of the most populous states (if not the most populous) and had years and years of national campaigning experience and exposure, professional and political.

Not saying anything derogatory about anyone on the scene now, but Reagan was uniquely positioned at the time as compared with anyone now.

He was also president of the Screen Actors Guild. Not a small executive position on his way up the ladder.

I take it the opposite way...despite Reagan serving two terms as Governor of one of the largest state...He was still counted out by MSM and liberals, mocked at and ridicule as a nut...but his political skills were great....political skills is what will separate one GOP candidate from the rest and Obama has no true political skills but more of a crash and burn attack towards others

I agree that the present occupant of the White House is totally unqualified, but still got there - but that’s water under the bridge.

I’m more interested in what it takes for a Republican to win the White House in 2012.
