Ac Active First Family Is On The Move In Maine [Did We See Headline's Like This During Bush?]

Ac Active First Family Is On The Move In Maine By Felicia Sonmez July 18, 2010 BAR HARBOR, MAINE -- President Obama and his family aren't just getting outside the Beltway on their brief vacation here -- they're getting outside, period.

Since their arrival Friday afternoon, the Obamas have been biking, hiking and boating their way around Mount Desert Island, the third-largest island on the Eastern Seaboard and home to the 47,000-acre Acadia National Park.

The first stop Friday was a 90-minute bike ride on the lushly wooded trails around Witch Hole Pond at the northern end of the island. Then came a family hike on Cadillac Mountain, at 1,530 feet the highest peak on the East Coast.

The Obamas rounded out their first day with a National Park Service boat ride on Frenchman Bay and a waterfront dinner at Stewman's Lobster Pound. Even dinner was outdoors: The first family, who arrived at the restaurant via boat, sat at a table on a pier overlooking the bay. The president and the first lady dined on lobster, while their daughters shared a shrimp basket, according to restaurant manager Jeff Buffington.

Diners on the pier may have been pleasantly surprised, but back in Washington and elsewhere some saw hypocrisy in the first family's two-day trip. On a recent trip to the Gulf of Mexico, Michelle Obama encouraged other Americans to visit the oil-fouled region.

Conservative pundit Michelle Malkin took a shot last week in a column titled, "Michelle Obama: Take Your Vacation in the Gulf, America -- If You Need Us, We'll Be in Maine." And Scott Stanzel, a deputy press secretary during the administration of George W. Bush, said on Fox News that the president could be "setting an example" but "has chosen not to do that."

Well, I kinda reckon that ole Sasquatch didn’t like the hot humid summers in the south so it wanted to go up north to Maine where some of its relatives hang out in the forests.

Folks...this is all about politics.

If the President goes to Maine, he gets thick news coverage in Boston and in ALL the New England states.

The Democrats are trying to shore up their stronghold up there in the NE because things are starting to crumble for them as truth gets out more and more about the corruption in the Dem party.

The first stop Friday was a 90-minute bike ride on the lushly wooded trails around Witch Hole Pond.

WITCH HOLE POND Ha Ha I never knew they had a pond in Maine named after Michelle.

Stewman’s Lobster Pound. A restaurant named after her too.

The President and the first lady dined on lobster, while their daughters shared a shrimp basket.

Barack has decided to go with budget cuts. He is cutting the kids food budget so Michelle can afford to stuff her face with lobster.

"... Flying that unruly dog on his own plane is a bit much ..."

Not if you recall that Mohammedans and dogs -- unclean, unclean! -- never travel in the same vehicle.

Writing from the "wilds" of McKinney, Texas

I loved it when President Bush would vacation at his home in Crawford during the Texas summers... meant the press would be p***ing and moaning about the blast furnace combination of heat and humidity.

The press ate a lot of cake back then... and it was good... not :-)

Michelle and her freeloading mother know they only have 4 years to travel the world with first-class accomodations on the American dime. They intend to spend every last penny. God forbid they get eight years!

“You guys are blowing this one out proportion.”
***
No, this president has turned the office into a part-time job. That is important. What kind of a leader is he if he’s never working?
***
“It’s his vacation, let him go where he wants.”
***
Rather hypocritical that while he and his wife are urging the rest of us to vacation in the Gulf, the family chose to vacation in New England, as far away from the disaster as possible.
***
“What kind of vacation would it be going to down the gulf now. He’d be hounded like a dog.”
***
As well he should be.
