W.Va. special election for U.S. Senate seat in doubt
July 18, 2010
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) A special election is now in doubt for the seat held by the late U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd.
Pending legislation would put the seat on the Nov. 2 ballot following an Aug. 28 primary. But the Legislature recessed Sunday without acting on it.
State officials had questioned whether they could follow the necessary election timetable if a bill wasnt passed by Sunday. Gov. Joe Manchins office says it believes the special election can still go forward if a bill passes Monday.
Without the legislation, the governor may still declare a special election. The other option would be to allow his temporary appointee, Carte Goodwin, to hold the seat until 2012.

Maybe by Republicans or the governors political opponents among the Democrats. Manchin want to be Senator. He's not going to let Goodwin stay until 2012 if he can help it. He'll declare a special election and run for the seat himself.
Mollahan is gone because somebody “didn’t get theirs”...conservatism had nothing to do with it.
We’ll see about Rahall, but I don’t trust Maynard one bit either.
Don’t forget, it was the dog and pony show put on by the WVGOP last Super Tuesday that gave us McNut as a Presidential candidate.
