The sheer idiocy of Hitchens makes “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” look amatuerish......

It’s really amazing what passes for the thought processes of an atheist.

He’s giving Dawkins a real run for his money in paranoia.

Or maybe it’s simply that Mel’s bats**t crazy. Did that possibility not occur to you, Hitch?

LOL. Many of the so-called “ultra conservative” sect of Catholicism denies the Holocaust, are truthers on 9-11, thinks the new Mass of Vatican II is invalid, and (some of them) think the chair of St. Peter is currently vacant.

They are apparently so conservative that they’re not conservative at all.

I have to say, the notion of Christopher Hitchens attacking anyone for misbehaving in their personal lives is about the ultimate in hypocrisy.

Hitchen’s mouth should be examined for new molecules that can be used in technology development. It can withstand the spewing of so much acid and bile without burning out, it would be incredibly valuable in, say, the garbage and waste disposal industries.

The smoking, burnt-out crust of the hole that used to contain his soul is another matter, however. Perhaps it should be just buried in a landfill with a warning gate around it.

This seems like an example of "the pot calling the kettle black". Hitchens appears to be projecting his own religious prejudges into Mel, with the erroneous charge Mel's obvious emotional and mental problems are the result of his Catholic beliefs.

I have been wondering since Mel's earlier arrest in Malibu if he had been placed on anti-depressive or anti-psychotic drugs to deal with the cause of his drinking and other disorders. Is it a possibility His recent bizarre, yet uncharacteristic, behavior could be the result of a reaction to these medications. He was married to the same lady for a very long time, they both are the same mother and father of a large number of decent children. He was known as a loyal family man, rare in hedonist Hollywood.

I am obviously no "shrink", just an amateur wondering.

Given his medical condition, Christopher needs to spend more time reading the Bible than reading about Mel Gibson

I have no idea if this man did anything or not to this young woman; however, when she hires Gloria Alread to defend; money will probably be and may be the intended and most important goal.

Hitchens is a bloated, hateful windbag. One wonders if all that hatred for Christians was the catalyst for his cancer.

He has a good mind, though, which was a terrible thing to waste, and it’s definitely wasted.

I won’t wish him ill, but I wish he’d STFU and focus on his chemotherapy.

All atheists are brilliant, smart, intellectual, intelligent and really really bright.

Catholics, Christians or “religioinists” are bigoted, closed-minded, hateful, knuckle-dragging dolts.

And, that’s the truth.

/sarcasm/

Hitchens has a point - to a certain degree.

If anyone wants to understand Mel’s brand of “catholocism” - try googling Hutton Gibson (lots of material - have fun)
But also - spend some time with the SSPX online.
Now the Gibsons are not SSPX - but the outlook and tone is very similar.
Then google the sedevanticists. These are the “empty seaters”.
You think southern baptists dislike the pope? HA! You’ve never seen pope hatred like this!

These people have webpages and forums.

Once you spend time in their world - now consider this is the atmosphere Mel was raised in.

So I agree that Mel isn’t “just” suffering from bipolar - or alcoholism.
The answer is “all the above”
Mix a dose of mental illness, alcohol, Hollywood celebrity, plus an ubringing at the hand of Hutton Gibson?
That’s quite an explosive mix.

Hitchens can’t help himself though.
He tries to equate the Gibson brand of “catholicism” with all of catholicism. It’s what a good atheist does.

The devil and the liberal media absolutely HATE what Mel Gibson did with the Passion of the Christ.

God only knows how many thousands (perhaps millions) of people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior as a result of watching that movie. Mel Gibson might very well be the most successful evangelist (in terms of bringing numbers people to Christ) of all time.

After the “Passion” I remember Mel talked about wanting to direct other Biblical movies - I would really like to see him do this. I’ve always thought that he alone could make a movie about abortion that would make it so real and personal it could literally help to overturn Roe v. Wade in this country.

From the time the “Passion” was released, Satan and the liberals have recognized what a threat Mel is to the kingdom of darkness and have tried to take him out in any way possible.

Mel Gibson needs our prayers right now and not our criticism. He has been used mightily by God - and I believe can be restored, with a great testimony of God’s grace, and continue to do what the Lord has gifted him to do.

Please pray for him.
