Unemployment rate falls in 39 states in June (AP's headline misleading once again)

WASHINGTON — The unemployment rate fell in most states in June, mainly because more people gave up searching for work and were no longer counted.

Fewer states saw job increases, the latest evidence that the economic recovery is slowing.

The jobless rate declined in 39 states and Washington, D.C. last month, the Labor Department said Tuesday. That's a slight improvement from May, when 37 states saw their rates decline.

But only 21 states saw net job gains in June, the government said. That compared to 41 the previous month and is the fewest this year.

The decline in job creation reflects the layoff of thousands of temporary census workers. Those jobs inflated total payrolls in May and then reduced them in June.

Still, the report also indicated that businesses aren't hiring many new workers. Nationwide, private employers added a net gain of only 83,000 jobs last month. The national unemployment rate dropped to 9.5 percent in June from 9.7 percent the previous month, as about 650,000 people stopped looking for work.

New York's unemployment rate fell to 8.2 percent from 8.3 percent the previous month. But the state lost 8,500 private-sector jobs, the second-straight decline in private employment. California's unemployment rate also declined, but the state gained just 1,300 private-sector jobs.

Wisconsin, meanwhile, saw its jobless rate fall to 7.9 percent from 8.2 percent the previous month. But the state's work force fell by 13,600, suggesting the decline was the result of people giving up job hunts. Furthermore, the state lost 1,000 private-sector jobs last month.

Nevada, battered by a housing slump and a drop in tourism, posted the nation's highest unemployment rate of 14.2 percent. That's the state's highest since records began in 1976.

"the latest evidence that the economic recovery is slowing. "

Slowing from what? It wasn't happening.

What is it about AP that makes them preternaturally stupid and colossally ignorant.

If I stop looking for a job, that makes me TIRED not EMPLOYED

As long as the ‘60s hippies control AP and other MSM outlets they will continue to do advocacy propaganda for their liberal cause and for those who would do their liberal bidding.

Isn’t summer typically a time of “massive” job growth what with all the vacationers and road/home construction projects? Likewise, I was under the impression that winter was typically the time of increasing unemployment. It really doesn’t seem like we’re seeing any real/significant job growth this summer so I wonder if a window of opportunity is being missed here and I wonder if Obama will pay for that this winter.

The decline in job creation reflects the layoff of thousands of temporary census workers.

Why not send them to Arizona and have them find the illegal aliens so the Federal Government can deport them? That way, Arizona won't need SB1070, and these vital Federal workers can stay at their "temporary" jobs a bit longer.

0bamao's regime, aided by his MSM butt-boys, will continue to tout a lower unemployment rate leading up to the election in November, of course neglecting to say that most have given up in quiet desperation.

Obama and the propagandists of the MSM will hammer us with lies about how great things are while we starve.

It's not going to be any better when know-nothing Generation X takes over. They don't know squat about squat, so they'll just keep repeating what's already been done, like they have in movies and music.

A few days ago I was listening to the AM radio. They had a news story on about a woman in Georgia who was “having a grand time” while unemployed as she was “discovering” her creative side.

I thought to myself that if this were a Republican administration, you know, “worse than Hoover”, we’d have thousands of stories about the homeless, the long lines at the soup kitchens, the desperation... But in a Marxist paradise administration we hear tales of how happy people are to be unemployed.

It fell by their own admission because people fell off the paid unemployment insurance rolls. This is nothing but pure Communist propaganda.

According to many here on FR, if you do not have a job you are not looking hard enough. If you receive unemployment, you do not deserve it. If you are out of work it’s all your fault.

The economy is not recovering at a fast enough rate, and many many people can not get jobs. There are little to no jobs out there. It’s so bad that the usual “crap” jobs are even booked ...

It’s a sad day when McDonald’s puts you through an
elaborate interview process and then they have a choice of 20 people they can choose for the janitor job.

If the Republicans would get behind an actual economic plan that helps everyone the election will be a total rout and the country will get back on track.

There has been no recovery, just lies.

I don’t believe there will EVER be a recovery with dems in power. I’m not convinced that the GOP can bring about a recovery at this point, but they are our best and only chance.

Of course; they buried the lede:

1. Fewer states saw job increases, the latest evidence that the economic recovery is slowing.
2. Only 21 states saw net job gains in June... and
3. The unemployment rate fell in most states in June mainly because more people gave up searching for work and were no longer counted.

Were this a Republican Administration, one or all of these items would have been the story line as promoted by Associated Propaganda.

It's no secret--cut government spending and cut taxes. The more severely the better on both counts. Of course the republicans are no more concerned about recovery than the 'rats are. They want it to stay bad till after November, just like the 'rats, but for different reasons.

Headline rewrite...” Economy bleeding to death at a slower rate, will die at 4:05 pm tuesday instead of 4:04pm” There fixed it.
