(CNN) -- A school district in Mississippi has agreed to pay a recent high school graduate $35,000 in damages and adopt a policy prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation, according to a statement released Tuesday by the American Civil Liberties Union.

The settlement comes after the ACLU sued the school district in Fulton, Mississippi, on behalf of Constance McMillen, a lesbian teen who was told by Itawamba Agricultural High School officials she and her girlfriend would be ejected if they attended the school-sponsored prom.

All proms should be privately organized. The school should not be putting money into something like that anyway. Collect money from every student that goes, rent out a hotel, and be done with it.

Hey TD, looks like you have a fellow homey for your lack of culture war appreciation here.

I’ll pay for the room.

WD, Even down in Mississippi, the powers that be must abide by the 14th Amendment and the Equal Protection Clause.

And if that school district would have brought this case to court the would have lost big with the court recognizing that the Culture War cannot violate the Constitution.

If the male impersonator was so good that everyone thought it was a mormal male-female couple attending the prom together, would that be okay?

If two girls attended together because they were friends and nobody else asked them, would that be okay?
