Conservatives are always told that the only sensible thing to do is to support people who oppose their principles.

Which of course is a form of insanity.

As long as conservatives will do it, though, the demand will continue to be made. Why wouldn’t it be?

In other words, nothing is going to change until conservatives are PRINCIPLED in fact, not just in word.

Nutritionally, they say you are what you eat.

Politically, you are who you endorse and vote for.

That’s just the cold hard truth.

No worries Pan - elections are important.

FWIW I think even she would be fine b/c the environment [not to mention the AGs] is to do what conservatives want - illegal immigration enforcement, eliminate state income tax, sue over 0zero-care, etc.

But you know as well as I that with certain demographics, logic goes out the window... It’s a D vote regardless... and we can’t have a D gov.

Ga is about 30% black. If the black vote is going D 85+% of the time that means the R candidate needs 67% of the remaining vote to win.

That’s the cold hard truth.

If barnes wins, it’s by cheating. He’s pretty well hated everywhere except Atl, Macon, etc.

I’ve heard that several times here, but never with specifics. Do you have any?

And that may work to the republican advantage this year. With 75% of the precincts reporting you have 625,789 republican primary votes for governor and only 362,995 democrats. And that's with two black candidates running against Roy Barnes for the democrat nomination. With no Obama on the ballot in November I think their turnout will be dismal. I don't think republicans will have that problem.

Oh, well, then by all means nominate a RINO!

By the way, political bookie-ism is killing us.

You’d think Republicans didn’t believe God would help them if they’d simply do right.

Just for clarification that’s 75% of the total vote. It’s 95% of election day voting, 73% of early voting and 58% of mail in ballots.

But in Ga statewide, the demographics are not conducive to a conservative win. So statewide, many conservatives vote for someone they think can win.

That an argument for losing. Karen Handel didn't have a snowball's chance to make the runoff until Sarah Palin endorsed her -- rocketing the least conservative candidate ahead of much better candidates.

Karen Handel is the only GOP candidate who failed to gain the endorsement of Georgia Right to Life. Karen Handel denied giving money to Log Cabin Republicans -- until a copy of her dues check appeared. Is that not an ethics issue?

Sarah Palin failed to exercise due diligence before endorsing Karen Handel. Sarah Palin has proven that the has the courage to speak. But Sarah Palin has also proven that she lacks the wisdom to know when not to speak.

I agree.

Let it be said again that this thread is whoopin' me for trying to explain Sarah's endorsement and Handel's win.

I do not support her. I'm commenting on reasons for the above.

Sarah wins another one.

Meanwhile in Texas, the Democrat candidate for governor won’t be seen with Obama when O comes to Texas to fund raise. Obama is the kiss of political death—and Rick Perry has Sarah Palin’s backing.

Queen Sarah the Queen/King Maker. Gotta love her.

I don't disagree. Again, I was responding to a poster or posters who wondered why Sarah endorsed her and why Handel did well. I was commenting on that.

Damn people are looking to be mean.

I appreciate the discussion, even if we don’t completely agree. We both want the same goal - the most conservative and competent people in office. We just don’t quite agree on which road is the quickest. Have a good night.

My pleasure pan - but I do think we agree.

The assertions above relate to my speculation on Sarah’s reason(s) for the endorsement and Handel’s curious win....not my positions on anything.

Gnight-

You know nothing.....according to the PAC payment papers ...she pays one of the best research group to vet the candidates.....now she does make her own judgments like: She didn’t endorse Jane Norton, who all of the FR Sarah-haters said that she would....and other candidates she stayed out of the race....

You need to go back and look at some numbers of past races. Perdue (Republican) beat Barnes with 52% of the vote in 2002, and he beat Taylor in 2006 with 58% of the vote.

There is a good number of black conservatives in Georgia.
