Steering the press
NY Post ^ | July 20, 2010 | John Podhoretz

For decades the right has used the term "media bias" as shorthand for the way journalists tend to slant to the left -- but in recent years many on the left have taken up the term to account for what is, to them, the inexplicable durability of conservative ideas.

The latest revelation from the database of private e-mails circulated among the left-liberals of JournoList should end once and for all the preposterous fantasy that right-wing forces have great sway over the way the mainstream media do business. They show how these writers, thinkers and activists managed to help prevent the potential 2008 media inferno over Barack Obama's history with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Until disbanding last month, JournoList was an Internet ingathering of several hundred left-of-center intellectuals. The Web site Daily Caller yesterday published a series of JournoList e-mails dating back to the 2008 campaign and Obama's relationship with Wright, his spiritual leader for two decades.

Good article, and at least the story's getting a little bit of mainstream exposure given that it was published in the NY Post.

In terms of what we, as conservatives and/or republicans, should take away from this can be summed up by these words from Michael Tomasky: "We need to throw chairs now, try as hard as we can to get the call next time. Otherwise the questions in October will be exactly like this."

Genteel debaters, following Robert's Rules of Order and the debaters' version of the Marquess of Queensberry's rules, do not "throw chairs." As such, we simply cannot any longer continue to treat the democrats, liberals, or the left in general as intellectual equals with whom we are engaged in a rational, intellectual clash of ideas - we are at war with a determined enemy who will use all means at its disposal to conquer and subjugate us, and we must act accordingly. There can be no appeasement or accomodation with Tomasky or any of the other "disgusting little rat snakes" who infested Journolist, or with the politicians whom they back.

We, on the right, need to start realizing that we are at war with the media, not the democrats per say. The democrats are just the political arm of the leftist MSM and their minions. Without the MSM watching their 6, the Dems would be a push over in most elections.

If i were as rich as Soros, I would pay a staff to dig up as much dirt and blackmail material I could on the MSM'ers. fair is fair.

As the columnist Michael Tomasky e-mailed: “We need to throw chairs now, try as hard as we can to get the call next time. Otherwise the questions in October will be exactly like this.”

I’d be willing to wager this quote refers to IU Coach Bobby Knight’s infamous chair throwing incident on the basketball court.

I remain convinced that with enough effort and determination, one could find a conservative dem. But it would be a long, hard slog. Seriously, we conservatives have the opportunity of a lifetime in front of us - it starts November 2nd, and ends with the inauguration of a conservative President in January of 2013. And just think - it would have been a MUCH tougher battle without the Kenyan Pretender opening the door for us.

I watched parts of OReilly last night and he made no mention of the “JournoList” which should have been his lead story. He is such a suck up to journalists in general, except the ones who attack him personally; he always states that they are generally UNBIASED. He is about as conservative as that Graham cracker from South Carolina who always get it wrong.

This is particularly damning with regard to Eric Alterman.

Alterman is a member of this Listserv, and he also wrote the book, “What Liberal Media?”

Hypocracy and lies don’t get any bigger than this. ‘Pod

Only members of the American aristocracy are entitled to opinions that matter, and only those opinions agreed upon by our masters are considered worthy of consideration.

We have allowed to be erected a Court of Versailles that rivals the power and authority of Louis XIV. In place of a Constitution and the rule of law we are governed by an absolute monarchy of the Ancien Régime.

Whether we descend into lawlessness as we dismantle this affront to humanity will depend on the commitment of the freed inmates of the Bastille to the Constitution or to revenge.

There are more than adequate grounds for revenge in the form of some sort of guillotine for the overlords. What is required, however, is not mercy for fools but a firm commitment to the letter of the Constitution. This must include impeachment for every member of the SCOTUS who is not firmly committed to the letter of our founding documents and principles.

Just as the name of people on the left have changed over the years, like from liberal to progressive, the JournoList will rise like the phoenix from its current heap of ashes and live again under a new name. (especially now with such important elections coming up)
They can't help themselves. Moths to a flame.

More like The Geraldo Show. Knight didn't inflict any damage, which is their intent.

Fair enough; I trust the basic point still remains, though.

To think that same crowd called W a “frat boy.”

Even worse could be said of them — they act like the “Animal House” crowd.

What I keep hoping and praying for is a billionaire with conservative beliefs who could perform the Soros function for the right and maybe even form a group of investors to try to buy one of the alphabet networks.

If such a thing were possible, the playing field would be leveled considerably.

O’Reilly aspires to be part of the “ruling class” that Rush has been majoring on this week.

If you look at O’Reilly in that light, his schtick quickly comes into focus.
