Berry: Obama 'fears' Fox By: Seung Min Kim July 21, 2010 12:07 PM EDT

A former chairwoman for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights slammed the Obama administration on Wednesday for caving in to conservative news outlets in the Shirley Sherrod case.

Mary Frances Berry, who was appointed by President Jimmy Carter and led the commission during the Clinton administration, accused the Obama administration of overreacting by firing Sherrod, who left the USDA after video of her comments at an NAACP dinner — remarks later shown to be distorted — surfaced.

“We now know for sure that the Obama administration fears Fox and right-wing media more than making sure they have the facts,” she said in POLITICO’s Arena. “We can also see clearly why, though an African-American president is a symbolic boon to blacks, he is unwilling to focus on the joblessness which disproportionately affects African-Americans. To do so risks being labeled racist.”

Politico remains the online tool of the ComPost and as such I for one have no more use for it (less, actually: I could light fires with the ComPost).

There is a name from the past- I remember when she was the incompetent race pimp president of the unidiversity of Colorado - how many millions of race pimp dollars has this old woman milked out of the system over the past 30 years?

Don’cha love the left “obama screwed up- but FOX made him do it”

Obama fears the truth and any news outlet that dares to deliver it.

Breitbart and Fox tossed some firecrackers into the enemy camp, and started a firefight inside it. Get some popcorn.

From the POLITICO website: Seung Min Kim

Seung Min is an assistant editor for POLITICO. Most recently, she was at USA Today, where she reported from the paper’s Washington bureau and worked on its online news desk. Before making her way to Washington, she covered suburban New Jersey for The Star-Ledger of Newark. She also completed internships at The Des Moines Register, the St. Petersburg Times and the St. Paul Pioneer Press. But her heart remains with her college newspaper, The Daily Iowan in Iowa City, where she fell in love with journalism after her first article (about a severed lizard head found in a fast-food salad).

Just sayin'.

It depends. To say she's currently a racist can be countered by the fact that she said she has now learned to look at things by rich/poor instead of white/black as she did in the past.

But she does flat-out admit to having let race influence her decisions as a government employee, leading her to provide an admittedly lower level of service to white people based on their race. No amount of shouting "out of context" can erase that basic fact.

Thanks - then there is nothing distorted abput the video.

It sounds like they way the leftists treated the fameos and accurate “Jennifer Flowers” tape.

What are we to believe them (leftists) or our lying eyes/ears?

Heh heh...don’t take a paper, so don’t run the risk either. We get the local rag for free on Wednesdays because of the coupons & church announcements. That’s enough for me.

I read a bit on Berry’s background and past controversies all the way back to the Carter days. It is amazing that she continues to hold a place in any adminstration.

And nothing can erase the current NAACP cheering for her providing that lower level of service based on race.

video of [Sherrod] comments at an NAACP dinner — remarks later shown to be distorted

Maybe so (in the sense that later she changed from racist to classist).. but the reaction of the NAACP audience was NOT distorted. It was definitely a feeling of pleasurable stimulation hearing that some white guy got his comeuppance. To me that is most important.
