At 15 I had a trailer behind my bicycle that carried a mower, edger, can and bags of grass. Pedalled around my neighborhood to all my clients and had lots of extra money in HS. Hard work but I could buy cool stuff.
Unlike now. Change=unemployed.
At 12, I was spending the summer as a Soda Jerk at a local drive-in, while the other kids my age were doing Kings Island.
At 14, I was working 30+ hours a week at Ayr-Way (later became TARGET).
I worked Full time at AyrWay, and another Part-time in the summers, as well as bailing hay and detassling when it was time. After the Air Force, I was able to graduate from 4 years at a private college without owing one thin dime.
I turned out fine. Luckily, I was able to pass this trait on to my daughter.
