LOL, though his critics will be lobbing just that kind of garbage. I haven’t studied his detailed resume, but it’s possible to be CEO, etc. of several firms at once.

DRAFT HALEY BARBOUR

He’s one of few Republicans whose stature benefited from their handling of Hurricane Katrina. The effectiveness of Barbour’s hustle (and his deep Washington connections) is evident to anyone who drives across the Pearl River from the Mississippi Gulf Coast—spiffed up with shiny new commercial ports and open-for-business casinos—into the sad, stagnant desolation of Louisiana. Traveling the country as RGA head, he has bucked up the quavering party, reassuring nervous Republican donors that the GOP’s prospects aren’t nearly as bad as they seem. The donors apparently like what they’re hearing: the RGA starts 2010 with more cash on hand than it spent in all 36 governors’ races in 2006, combined.

Is it possible to examine him here without regard to the fact he’s black?

I doubt it.

I’ve seen em come and go so much and we are always disappointed...Cain might be an exception but freepers always gaga over anything black

Only a weak fool plays this game...like we are on the PC strings the left pulls

Obama got in and reinforced almost every bad stereotype whites ever held about blacks. He has done SO much damage.

What color is this dude?

Tim Scott Beats Strom Thurmond's Son In SC GOP House Race

I daresay he's a couple of F-stops blacker than Zero.

Um, by November, obamacare, expiration of Bush’s tax cuts, and the insane new financial regs will have us in a MAJOR Depression, and a gerbil named “Stinky” will be able to beat obama.

If we have fair elections, that is...

America could do far worse than Barbour (I’d love to see him give Obama a haircut) but one warning, he’s a squish on eminent domain.

I agree. Obama has done irreparable harm and set things back decades. Cain sounds like a great man; I just don’t think he’ll stand a chance of getting elected.

NO. Haley Barbour IS. The Dims think he’s a redneck hack.

Most white conservatives have long gotten over their generic fears of black Americans, the Bummer notwithstanding.

“America could do far worse than Barbour (I’d love to see him give Obama a haircut) but one warning, he’s a squish on eminent domain.”

Barbour/Bachmann...Palin running the RNC...Palin learning the ropes from Barbour, bringing the star power, Bachmann for the gals and the Northern balance. Sweet.

Any black challenger will have to make himself (or herself) clear enough to make the contest look like more than just “the devil we know vs. the devil we don’t know” to the average only slightly politically aware American.

If Barbour and Obama could agree on one little area of jack boots (again, I’d look at eminent domain), they’d be shaking hands in a minute.

Cain would at least force Obama to meet the racial issues debate front and center, or look really stupid dodging it.

Love you, Herman, but don’t do it. America is not going to elect two black men to the presidency, back to back.

Politics is ALL about perception. Trouble with Barbour is he would turn off a lot of the Reagan democrats and moderates from the North and West....folk who otherwise would vote for a non-Southern conservative (like Reagan).

Sorry, anti-Southern prejudice is still very prevalent outside of the South.

And regionalism is still very big. Conservatives in Massachusetts as a rule still love Romney (look at the alternatives up there!)—even though I, as a Southern conservative... could not in good conscience vote for him.
A conservative BLACK man however, even a Southerner...could be attractive everywhere.

[Herman] Cain, a devout Christian, emphasized he is "prayerfully considering" a 2012 bid for the GOP nomination.

In addition to serving as the former president and CEO of Godfather's Pizza for 10 years, Cain, 64, is also former president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He's been vice president of Burger King, vice president of Pillsbury Company, a mathematician for the U.S. Department of the Navy and a business analyst for Coca-Cola. He has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Morehouse College and a master's degree in computer science from Purdue University.

Thread from 2004: Herman Cain: Brief Biography and Statement of Faith:

....Cain also serves as an associate minister of Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta.

Herman Cain Statement of Faith

“The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father's God, and I will exalt Him.”

~Exodus 15:2 (NKJV)

"When my father left his family’s small farm at the age of 18 with just the clothes on his back, he had his belief in God, his belief in himself and his belief in the United States of America. With these beliefs he achieved all of his dreams in life.

"Using those same beliefs, I have been able to achieve many blessings in life with the strength, which comes from God. My family and friends, my church, my success and the opportunity to live in the greatest country in the world are all blessings from God.

"There is more to life than getting more. This is why my song unto Him is to use all my talents to serve my fellow man, and make a difference in the future of our Nation.

"In God we trust expressed the faith of our Founding Fathers. In God I trust is my faith."

That's it. That's Cain's whole statement. And his church, Antioch Baptist Church North, doesn't even have one that long.

I was not aware of his background. I have heard "The Hermanator" on the radio a few times and I am very impressed. If he can catch on, I can support him.

Herman Cain has been one of my favorites for a long time.

I wish he'd have been the one to run instead of Zero. It will be a very long time before this country elects another black president. Zero has poisoned the well.

I hope that Cain has a cabinet position in the next Conservative administration. He's a man of character.
