In the Wall Street Journal Democrat Senator James Webb attacks both the basis for "diversity" racial preferences and its negative impact, indicating it's time to end these programs.

He's proven himself a political opportunist. Talking a conservative game to his constituents but voting lockstep with his party's far left agenda. So, it is clear that he sees himself in some political trouble and recognizes this issue resonates with many voters in his state.

So is he, umm, going to vote to confirm Kagan?

Of course. Which mean Webb is spouting BS hoping to fool enough to forget he's a lockstep Dem when it comes to the important stuff.

It’s not what he says but what he does.

He faces re-election in 2012 and doesn’t want to lose his seat to Republican coattails.

This is a beautiful story if true. We’ll see.

I think you’re going to see more and more Dems bailing on Bambi. They all knew he was leftwing, sometimes even more leftwing than they were, but they didn’t know he was a Third-World Muslim-identified racist who wanted to wreak revenge on them. Poor Dems. And now they’re stuck with him, and so are we...

To all,

I understand the tendency to pigeon-hole people, but in the case of James Webb and his argument against diversity is a real and convicted one. He lays out the argument in the chapter “The Invisible People” in Born Fighting, pub. 2004.

I am not an apologist for Webb had his broader view of governance, but he gets it right about “diversity” politics being skewed to those of dark skin. The poor whites and others have been discriminated against as much or more than blacks but the discrimination drums are beaten by the ‘colored’ of our country.

Give yourself a treat and read “Born Fighting”; it will explain the politics of the past and the present in a way that you have never seen before.

Diversity hurts everyone except rich elitist Dems. The jist of the article. And true.

Action speak louder then words!
Look at Webb's action, what agenda does he advance with his actions. (Meaning his decision to align himself with the Rat party and by his subsequent votes !)

It isn't the agenda of people he claims to identify with! Hypocrite thy name is Webb !

I assume you are a supporter of the Zero HealthCare Bill by that brilliant bit rhetorical repartee!

Also I have a wonderful letter from Webb's office explaining his support for “Cap & Trade” and that helps out the “little people” how?

Please explain?

I am not an water carrier for Webb. He is just right about this unfair diversity thing. I am as rock-ribbed of a conservative as you can get, but my Scots-Irish history is an exact copy of his. And we end up 180 degrees opposite on almost all issues. On this on point he is a true believer.

Just educate yourself by reading the book and we can have further discussions on the matter.

Scotch-Irish here also.
I have the book plus several others on the Scotch-Irish.
Just because Webb mouths some correct statements on occasion, doesn't detract from my previous points.
I also had an opportunity to meet Webb professionally in the Reagan years when he was SecNav, I never met someone who went out of his way to demonstrate such a “Chip-On-My-Shoulder” attitude. He went out if his way to be rude and disagreeable. This was early in my professional career and was then naive enough to think that “our leaders”, (particularly “GOP leaders”!) were worthy of the term. (This guy won a Silver Star!) This was one of the first of many “rude awakenings” regarding the quality of people we have in DC.(Ah the “starry-eyed naivety” of youth! Sometimes I miss the comfort of my lost ignorance.)

When I heard about the Naval Academy as to why Webb hated Oliver North, after my experience I believe the story!

Chip on the Shoulder=Redneck

What did you expect? You should have known what he was when you met him. Just get his support for eradicating ‘diversity’ legislation.

As I said I was unduly influenced by my youth and a sense of awe and difference to national leaders and “war heroes”.
I actually thought that such experiences and being picked for such an exalted position by Ronaldus Magnus meant he was above the attitude & behavior of a “school yard bully”.

Don't worry my experiences since then have left me far too cynical to do now!

I'd love to read it in a manner that deprives Senator Webb any revenue.
